@LewisCTech@JamesSampica I don’t think it’s a fully standalone app. It seems connected to the Google app somehow, maybe the core stuff runs through that. I’m pretty sure it also needs the google app to be installed.
Envy is experienced up close. People do not equally compare themselves to everyone. People critically compare themselves to someone who is close enough to be their rival. A stranger with same conditions succeeding, invokes admiration rather than jealousy. However when a friend who was in a same situation as them, suddenly starts changing his ways and eventually life, he becomes the sole target of their hatred, criticisms and judgements.
Lots of people use brainrot to postpone existential dread. What they often don't realize is that they are also postponing the actions that would create meaning. If your life feels unfulfilling, no amount of distraction will fix that. You can't fix emptiness with more emptiness.
Sometimes you will have to get your hands dirty. If you expect your every action to be clean, you are better off living an average life. Some choices will contain risk, some with incomplete information and some with uncertainty. Sometimes the only way to get a positive result will be by working in a morally grey area. Winning is all that matters, everything else is null and void.
The easier version of self-control is resisting temptation. The harder version is learning controlled restraint. Wrath, Envy, Greed, Lust, Gluttony, Pride and Sloth, rather than controlling the expression of your temptation. You master them. You channelize and deploy them in a controlled manner. Greed for long-term actualisation of your purpose. Envy to motivate you. Wrath to out-compete others. This is how you use your demons to do your bidding.
Be intentional about your friendships, I am not a great fan of you should make friends naturally, rather you should intentionally put yourself in environments depending on the kind of friends you want to make. I graduated from one of the most prestigious colleges in the country - there was period in my life where I had absolutely lost everything, however, a few calls to my friends and I had 6 opportunities lined up for a new venture.
In game theory: When predicting someone's move don't just speculate what a rational person would do, also question what this specific person would do. What behaviour have they repeatedly executed in the past? What triggers them? What makes them cooperate? What incentives could change their strategy? You improve the scope of your strategy by speculating the ideal player as well as the actual player.
Manufacture goodwill. It comes at the cost of nothing; you just have to be kind, helpful, talk to people like a decent human being and treat them with equal courtesy. This appears as social credit in times of crisis than cannot be manufactured overnight. Generosity demanded only when you need support appears transactional at best and is frequently refused.
If you so ever wish to criticise someone, limit it to what they actually did. You refrain from personal attacks that include their self-image, family, profession, or background just to increase the intensity of your insult. People remember humiliation long enough for it to appear with unnecessary headaches.
Courage is mandatory trait to excel, you are either born with or you aren't. The greastest men are those who experience no doubt, rather it is having the ability to acknowledge the existence of it and yet propel to action under the presence of doubt. Most consequential things in life come with incomplete information, mixed signals and real evident risk.
Progress raises expectations faster than it produces satisfaction. People become more demanding as they discover how much can change.
This was the Tocqueville observation.
This is why authoritarian regimes are vulnerable if they reform. The concessions encourage further demands.
@DesiEsco7 As someone smarter than me said - You kill a butterfly you are cruel, you kill a cockroach you are a hero. Morality has aesthetic standards.
So if morality has aesthetic standards then everything else by default has. If someone is beautiful half of their problem is solved.
