Is Modulith Architecture a thing?

The goal is simple: a monolith with separation of concerns.

The How:

1. You divide the application into several modules, each focusing on a specific business domain or functionality.

2. Modules interact with each other through well-defined interfaces or shared events.

3. Each module is cohesive, encapsulating its business logic and data access.

4. You centralize common functionalities and configurations in a shared library. Modules can use this lib to reduce duplication.

5. You can develop and test The modules in isolation, speeding up development.

6. You can have a single DB, but please use schema separation.

The Pros

- Unlike microservices, the Modulith doesn't need to manage a complex network of services.

- Modular design makes the codebase easier to understand, develop, and maintain.

- You avoid Network overhead.

- Those well-defined modules will be easy to split into a microservice if you need it down the road.

The Cons

- It needs discipline; modules can become tightly coupled, negating the benefits of modularity.

- They don't offer the same level of scalability as fully distributed architectures.

- Modules can represent a single point of failure.

Modulithic is a strategic choice.

You can combine the simplicity of a monolithic deployment model while gaining the flexibility of a modular design.

Do you use a virtual machine to browse dangerous links safely? If you use the Chrome browser inside that virtual machine, is it secure enough?
As you might have guessed, the answer is not so much.

[#SpaceYaTech @SpaceYaTech]

https://t.co/jMGhIfQdmQ has gotten three updates:

1. We now have a search bar to search for mentors by name. Clicking on a result now takes you straight the mentor's calendar for booking.
This feature was built by @CatherineKiiru.

2. You can now set a recurring session for any amount of days you want, a month out. Thank you @SamProgramiz for suggesting this.
It's now very convenient to host repeating sessions on https://t.co/jMGhIfQdmQ.

This feature was built by @wamatamuriu, supervised by our mentors, @McBooll and @Webbie1001

3. The sessions cards on the dashboard were modified to reflect the status of sessions. They now show how frequently a session repeats.

This was done by @McBooll.

4. We removed pagination on the Discover Talents section, in favor of the "scroll to reveal more" effect which is better user experience.

5. We improved the loading speed of the site by refactoring some of the code. If you are keen, you'll notice that it now loads faster (by a big margin in fact).

This was done by @McBooll.

6. The backend work was done by the Mastercraft Java Springboot track, led by @macharia_25 and supervised by @hudsonobai.

https://t.co/jMGhIfQdmQ is maturing one feature at a time. If you have feature requests or user experience issues you are having, don't hesitate to DM us.
