@phonechy_org is an @omarchy based, Matrix-first phone. Your data can only be unlocked with a FIDO2 hardware key (or your recovery code). Five flicks of a hardware slider within two seconds crypto-erase the data volume and power the phone off; a remote lock code does the same. The modem is off by default and used for data only: no SMS, no phone calls. Voice calls run over Matrix, end-to-end encrypted. There are no camera drivers in the kernel, so the cameras can simply be removed. Microphones and speakers can be removed too; calls then work through a USB-C headset.
Encrypted communication. FIDO2 hardware-key unlock. Erasure controls designed for a physical switch, a duress PIN or someone you authorise. @phonechy_org an independent, @omarchy based phone. (not an official Omarchy project)
Fairphone Gen. 6+ running @phonechy_org my Omarchy aarch64 (ARM) kernel: mainline Linux 7.3 + 77 device patches.
Working now: display, GPU, touch, Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth audio, speakers, mic, main + ultra-wide camera, all sensors, modem, GPS, suspend, fingerprint sensor.
On my hardened @phonechy_org build: encrypted data (LUKS2), verified read-only system (dm-verity) and end-to-end encrypted Matrix chat and video- and audiocalls.
NFC next.
Unofficial side project, not an @dhh@Omarchy release. @ryanrhughes
You asked for it: a square design. With one touch, you can choose between square and beveled edges in @phonechy_org with my custom @omarchy ARM Kernel.
Initial tests show Linux runs on the Fairphone 6+. I'm testing power consumption overnight for @phonechy_org. I'm currently building the first test kernel from @omarchy ARM.
Speech recognition on @phonechy_org with Whisper works LOCALLY! In this example, MCP opens the camera. It can do much more. It will be faster with the target hardware. @omarchy ARM Kernel.
Huge apologies to everyone who writes to me. Unfortunately, I don’t see everything, please don’t take it the wrong way. I’m focusing on development of @phonechy_org
