Last week, the team from the Invasive Phragmites Control Centre visited Fishers Pond Nature Reserve to begin removing phragmites, an #invasive plant that hinders the growth of surrounding native species. This work will help increase #biodiversity in the area. #brucetrail
The IPCC manual control crew was joined by the Coastal Conservation Youth Corp last week to assist in #Phragmites removal as well as to educate the youth on the impacts of invasive Phragmites
In 2014, we partnered with @phragcontrol to map Phragmites australis, an invasive species covering 60% of the 107 hectare Baie du Doré, a sensitive wetland next to our site.
Since then, we have removed it from 52 hectares and our work is not done yet! #Conservation#Biodiversity
The “cutting-to-drown” method made a difference for the @LambtonCentre summer camp in Lambton Shores, Ontario by opening the camp’s beach. “For years, the lake wasn’t accessible to campers due to #Phragmites,” said Dr. Gilbert. More at https://t.co/gkQ5kfS08E.
