@WhitMerrifield You saying that to protect him. The lead should be say 2 or 3 feet shorter than where the 3rd baseman is positioned in relation to the bag. Like, if 3rd baseman 8 feet from bag, your lead should be 6 feet as you have that extra 2 feet to get back to the bag.
