@SegunShowunmi@KwankwasoRM This guy has gone bunkers. Is this now the criteria to get apc appointment ? Becoming a nuisance just to get crumbs from apc
In 2022, I had N50 million for a house that was estimated to cost that amount. Instead of building, I decided to use the money to buy a landed property. Four years later, I want to sell the land. It's now worth N100 million.
Profit, right?
But the house I could have built with N50 million in 2022 now costs N150 million.
By now you should already see that the land appreciated in price but depreciated in value.
I have not only not made a profit. I have lost the capital. More money, yes. Less purchasing value, yes.
In 2022, the N30,000 minimum wage was worth about $70. The N70,000 minimum wage of today is worth about $50.
And when people ask, "Do you spend dollars in Nigeria?"
Ask them why they blame a fight in far-away Iran for the exorbitant cost of petrol in Nigeria.
Ask them why a crate of eggs now sells for N6,000.
Ask them why a piece of meat pie that used to sell for N100 is now N500.
Ask them if they are ignorant of the fact that, as a country heavily dependent on imported goods, almost everything is priced against the dollar.
This simply means states and individuals are not receiving more money, as claimed by the Federal Government. They are receiving more paper and when states pay salaries, it's the same nearly worthless paper being distributed to people.
Even the current Chief of Staff has admitted that the minimum wage needs to be reassessed. That's because the N70,000 of today is worth far less than the N30,000 of 2022.
One billion naira in 2022 was worth about $2.2 million. The same amount today is worth about $714k - $720k. And a building or a road that would have cost N50 million to build in 2022 now costs more than N150 million.
That's the real arithmetic the government is hiding. The APC government should know that not all Nigerians are stupid.
