Is drawdown affecting global carbon emissions from reservoirs ?
Yes.
Taking into account drawdown areas increases current global CO2 emissions from reservoirs by 53%.

@LussiD@Patrickdery
More fun publisher surveillance:
Elsevier embeds a hash in the PDF metadata that is *unique for each time a PDF is downloaded*, this is a diff between metadata from two of the same paper. Combined with access timestamps, they can uniquely identify the source of any shared PDFs.

& @Y_Prairie quantify the contribution of #methanotrophs to C cycling in six lakes, finding evidence of a large role of methanotrophs due to their higher specific activity & larger cell size. https://t.co/KEWKkzs1cp @GRIL_Limnologie@sciencesUQAM

I remember very well listening to Turbonegro for the very first time. I returned home from a pub and stumbled into a @rockpalast Rocknacht broadcasting their show at the Bizarre Festival.
I was just blown away.

Barcelona has an amazing school cycle bus every Friday. Wherever you are in the world, few kids will see this and think “I’d like to be driven to school instead”.
When the project started there were just five children taking part. Change can happen fast.

@MikePeacock86 When using GHGs in the title for a paper that is "only" including CO2 and CH4, I would probably expect the major findings to be based on climate forcing in terms of CO2eq rather than CO2-C and CH4-C
A study in @NatureGeosci suggests that reservoirs emit more carbon than they bury, challenging the current understanding that reservoirs are net carbon sinks. https://t.co/m6s4KaQ0Fr
~10 yrs ago @BielObrador measured CO2 emissions from a drawdown area for the 1st time, out of scientific curiosity. That day we had the feeling we were onto something. Thanks @phskeller , @MKoschorreck for letting us to be part of this beautiful piece that somehow closes the loop
I am extremely happy to see the second chapter of my #PhD published. It really has been a long way from the first draft until the final result.
Thanks to @Rafa_Marce @BielObrador @MKoschorreck for the great support.

Exposure of drawdown areas was most pronounced in reservoirs close to the tropics and shows a dependence on climatic (precipitation, temperature) and anthropogenic (water use) drivers.

Taking into account drawdown areas, the ratio between carbon emissions and carbon burial in sediments is increased to 2.02, suggesting that reservoirs emit more carbon than they bury.

Me, @LlGomezGener and @R_Sponseller17 led this paper in @NatGeosci, on how global efflux of CO2 from rivers may be underestimated due to high nocturnal emissions.
