@GuruAnaerobic It’s simply a competition skill to increase reps and speed, should only be trained from a significant baseline of pull up strength and gymnastic technique - and only for those who actually compete

Is it more ethical to ensure our soldiers have the best chance on the immediate battlefield or for their long term health and well-being?
Will the next war be enough of a threat to us or existential so that we act on these things with less consideration?

My opinion is that we need to consider two broad ‘groups of PEDs’:
-long term training/recovery aids such as anabolic steroids/peptides etc
-short term performance aids, think stimulants etc

Overall a difficult and nuanced discussion and I think one where the crux is a western ethical approach deciding on what is better for soldier welfare AND combat effectiveness

and see it leading to mistakes made, crimes committed and blame/accountability very murky when the soldier is tired, using ‘uppers’ and ‘downers’ etc... a dangerous road to travel, which can be seen partially in other industries such as truck drivers

WRT the latter, I think it would be a Pandora’s box to engage in approved short term performance enhancing PEDs such as stimulants for use on operations...

Our near peer competitors have state sanctioned Olympic drug programs and so will certainly be enhancing their soldiers, will this could this be a significant difference in the close fight...maybe?

I believe the former is worth exploring to optimally condition and maintain our soldiers, to prolong careers (takes lots of $ to train them) and most importantly to provide a potential edge , particularly in the looming urban battle space
@Nick_Alexander4@BAESystemsAus @DPBEthics @AustralianArmy @1CHBAusArmy Absolutely, and more important than the exact platform or process is a culture of innovative health options and consideration of the demands of the environment & task...
@helmandproject Courage at the top of the list, to quote CS Lewis-
“Courage is not simply one of the virtues, but the form of every virtue at the testing point”
