Strongly agree. Personally I don’t love the fallen hero angle for Luke at all, but in Rian’s defense JJ painted him into a corner with the destruction of the Jedi academy and Luke’s self isolation on achto. What I was expecting from TLJ was a despondent Luke who had tried to do everything right and still had his nephew turn to the dark side. Sad and shaken but still kind and caring, desperately searching for answers in ancient Jedi wisdom. I like your suggestions around him being too merciful with kylo because then his mistakes would’ve been a natural extension of who we knew him to be from the OT.

I think I get your point but to me turning Luke Skywalker into a fallen hero is still subversive even if he ends up back in a heroic position by the end. I don’t even fully buy his redemption in the film because he still antagonizes his own nephew during his final scene where he’s supposed to be the redeemed hero

Emma basically accuses Ashe of gatekeeping (which always has a negative connotation) and suggests her behavior will have consequences for her from other content creators. I buy that Emma meant it as good faith advice but imo the more neutral response would’ve been to just accept Ashe’s initial refusal without characterizing her motives or suggesting she’s done something wrong

Totally. I think ashe’s angle here is that it’s fine for someone to turn down a request for whatever reason and the asking party should just respect that. Emma following up with advice (which she might have cynically read as passive aggressive) clearly irked her. She also prob just doesn’t like Emma for whatever reason even before this interaction

So this was me! I asked her what camera she used and she wouldn’t tell me! Very bizarre behavior. Has never happened to me before. I really enjoy Ashe’s videos and have sent her a lot of encouragement. I’ve asked many people what cameras they use and they’ve always shared. Strange interaction
