@Reuters It’s about time the U.S. gets with those taking the lead on this. The traveling public deserves to have our most experienced pilots on the flight deck. Way too many inexperienced pilots being pushed through the pipeline.
@ALPAPilots ICAO has begun formal action to raise the age 65 limit for pilots. The initiative is spearheaded by Canada, Australia, Brazil, Japan, New Zealand, the UK and IATA. It is also formally supported by 10 additional countries and unopposed by any Member States. Happy Labor Day indeed!

@kelley0011@raisepilotage @118Congress Saying pilots will be on disability is inaccurate. There’s a reason the opposition includes sick in their numbers. If you take out those using sick b/c they aren’t paid for decades of accumulated time, the incidence of disability is less than other professions.
@kelley0011@raisepilotage @118Congress Pilots have received a 40% pay increase and new hire Captains 100k signing bonuses. There is only so much the traveling public will stand for before the industry looks for alternatives. EASA wants single pilot, We offer a means to keep two.
@kelley0011@raisepilotage @118Congress If you don’t want angle pilot, you might want to stop fighting 67. There’s an international pilot shortage and demand will be met one way or the other.
@mustang_bode @ALPAPilots Research shows than cognitive changes can occur in our 40s and less than 3% of the general population experience significant issues before age 70. Data from other countries show a positive safety effect associated with increasing age limits, not a negative one.
@LasVegasTodd@ALPAPilots The FAA does not oppose raising the age limit. You might want to watch Whitaker’s testimony where he clarifies that the FAA has no opinion on the matter. The FAA had said it will enforce whatever legislation is passed by Congress.
@LasVegasTodd@ALPAPilots Pilots accrue sick over decades of working and are forced to “use it or lose it.” Recently negotiated contracts that offer pay for unused sick show a dramatic reduction in use.
@ALPAPilots ALPA should hire a statistician who understands dara integrity. Using this to suggest there’s no pilot shortage will drive the industry straight into single pilot operation.
@ALPAPilots Can't believe we have to say this....an abrupt *temporary* disruption of mainline aircraft is not the same thing as fixing the pilot shortage. Get the facts: https://t.co/cXddjCdK2N
The pilot shortage continues to devastate small communities across the country. It is time for the pilot unions to stop their selfish campaign of misinformation obstruction.
We need lawmakers to support keeping experience on the flight deck and modernizing and improving pilot training at tomorrow’s Senate Commerce FAA reauthorization markup. Get the facts here: https://t.co/ucTgaYfaFY

"We look at @ALPAPilots pilot supply number (~9,800 over the last 12 months), and about 30% of those pilots are not looking to fly for the airlines, so ALPA has not compensated their numbers for the fact that not all pilots want to be airline pilots. https://t.co/17dVkVNoV3
“Mandatory retirements at age 65, which @OliverWyman expects to peak in 2025-26, coupled with industry growth, will present challenges to resolving the shortfall even if pilot certification levels continue at their elevated pace.” #pilotshortage https://t.co/raHeXHv706
