It does feel weird to not be going to ANE this year but with all the things going on for me this year, I'm still thinking financially and mentally it's the best. I hope those who go have fun!

It's hard to describe but in all, right now, I'm focusing on my career and doing things that I know I enjoy and can financially afford.

And speaking a bit more on the community, Pine has taken another name and face. He's still me, my fursona, but he's also a character now at a ren faire! Being there made me realize I'd take running around as a bird at a ren faire over a con any day.

I'm still around, just not checking Twitter or Telegram that often. I'm having fun being a bird and a nerd in a few other ways (ex. LARPing) that has made me happier than furry cons have.

I still call myself a furry, but lately, the community doesn't feel like me. Also, with how expensive the con is and some upcoming adventures I'm off to (job related and otherwise), I feel financially no ANE is good for me.

Hey everyone! So...where have I been? No one has really asked, but I might as well share.

First of all, I will not be going to ANE this year. Last ANE just felt...off. Simply enough, I didn't have fun. I felt like I was trying way too hard to fit into the culture of the con.

@Smatterbrain As an ornithologist and birder, the Ruddy Turnstone is likely not missing a leg! For some reason, small shorebirds do that fairly frequently. I usually see Sanderlings do it.

So...I've had an idea for a while and I think I'm about ready to finally act on it.

I love going to ren faires and a lot of times, I get mistaken for being a performer while being Pine.

Despite actually finding a way to get to Anthrocon, I decided not to go. It's a lot of money to suddenly spend, especially with my job search possibly taking me to the west coast. I'll get there eventually, but I want to be much more monetarily stable. Have fun everyone!
