Poland and the Jewish genocide: facts still ignored.

Discussion of WWII Poland is often shut down by accusations rather than evidence. Once “antisemitism” is invoked, facts no longer matter. That is not history; it’s moral shorthand.

Poland did not collaborate as a state. There was no quisling government, no ideological alignment with Germany, and the largest underground resistance in occupied Europe operated while the legal government functioned in exile. Hatred of the German occupier was universal and shaped by mass executions, village burnings, child kidnappings, forced labor, and terror.

Helping Jews in occupied Poland carried a mandatory death sentence, often for the helper’s entire family, a law unique in Europe. Despite this, tens of thousands of Poles helped Jews. Jewish historians writing during and after the war documented this reality. Informing for the Germans was widely viewed as criminal and morally despicable and was punished by the underground.

Claims of “Polish collaboration” collapse when examined against German policy itself. Germany designated Poland for destruction under Generalplan Ost. Collaboration requires aligned interests. Poland had none. It was targeted for extermination and the Polish hated the Germans. To the Poles, the lowest form of humanity were collaborators, including those that informed on Jews.

Auschwitz was initially created to imprison and murder Poles before becoming the central site of Jewish extermination. For the first two years of the war Poles were being slaughtered at a much higher rate. This does not diminish the Jewish Holocaust; it clarifies chronology and intent. Germany pursued overlapping genocidal policies in Poland , first against Poles, then industrialize against Jews.

Poland lost over six million citizens, including three million Polish Jews, and suffered dual occupation by Germany and the USSR. Despite this, Poland produced the largest documented number of Jewish rescuers and even created Żegota, a unique underground organization dedicated solely to aiding Jews.

Still those casualties are incomplete
unless Soviet atrocities are added. We know up to 1.5 million Poles were deported and some of the statistics state that one in three perished.

That’s horrific- freezing, starvation and grueling nonstop slave labor.

And Poland, unlike the Jewish people never received reparations. Germany still insists the matter is closed.

Yet, Poles were in the same camps, some they were the majority and they were treated no differently and sometimes worse.

History does not support claims of Polish complicity. It shows a nation punished with death for acts of humanity. To ignore this is not oversight, if is a lie.

Yes, trauma explains memory, but it does not guarantee accuracy. When selective testimony replaces archival evidence and context, history turns into myth and we have become softened to myth. It’s easier to accept.

As Yehuda Bauer warned, when history is simplified to serve moral or political agendas, it ceases to be history. It becomes something else entirely, myth, accusation, or propaganda. This is a useful test when reading the past: ask whether complexity is being preserved or erased. One of the foremost aims of my work has been to tell the truth about history in a way that is compelling, human, and honest, without sanding down its edges or bending it to fit modern narratives. Truth does not fear nuance, only agendas do.

In time, let us hope the name-calling, defamation, and cruelty give way to something better. We are all human, we all suffer and we all deserve to be heard honestly.

Jestem wystarczająco stary, żeby pamiętać, kiedy to było uważane za coś w rodzaju czapeczki z folii aluminiowej. Teraz mówi się o tym tak nonszalancko.

Zaledwie kilka lat temu ci z nas, którzy poruszali temat handlu ludźmi, pedofilii, wyspy Epsteina, e-maili Podesty itp., byli wyzywani od najgorszych i odrzucani jako „teoretycy spiskowi”. Teraz szersza opinia publiczna została znormalizowana do tej rzeczywistości i z niecierpliwością oczekuje przejrzystości.

Myślę, że świat jest gotowy, aby usłyszeć prawdę. Wielu ludzi, których podziwialiśmy jako liderów i wzory do naśladowania, jest zaangażowanych w niewypowiedziane zło.
