The partnership between Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) and Yayasan Sabah has taken an important first step towards the proposed establishment of a specialised cardiac hospital in Kota Kinabalu.

As part of Phase One, Yayasan Sabah has approved scholarships for 30 Sabahan students to pursue their studies at IJN College in Kuala Lumpur, a significant investment in developing Sabah’s future healthcare workforce. Upon completing their studies, these students will be offered employment opportunities with IJN in Sabah, allowing them to return home, build their careers and serve the people of Sabah.

This is more than a scholarship programme. It is the beginning of building a strong pool of skilled local talent to support the future of specialised cardiac care in Sabah.

To every Wakil Rakyat in Malaysia - and to the Prime Minister @anwaribrahim - this needs to be said clearly
You were elected. Not crowned. Not elevated above the people.
You asked for votes. You campaigned. You made promises. You shook hands & pledged service.
No one forced you to contest.
You chose to enter public office.
Which means you chose the responsibility that comes with it.
Let us reset the power structure properly.
The Rakyat are the principals.
You are the agents.
Agents answer to principals.
You work for the Rakyat.
The Rakyat do not work for you.
Somewhere after election victory, this basic structure gets forgotten. Suddenly there is ego. Suddenly there is distance. Suddenly access becomes controlled. Suddenly criticism becomes disrespect.
No.
Criticism is accountability.
Accountability is the price of public office.
Actual facts-.
A Wakil Rakyat is not doing charity work. This is not volunteer service.
You receive salary funded by taxpayers. You receive allowances, travel privileges, staff allocations, office budgets. After your term, you qualify for pension.
This is a paid constitutional responsibility.
Which means performance is not optional.
Attendance is not optional.
Transparency is not optional.
Humility is not optional.
The Rakyat are entitled to expect-
Full attendance during important parliamentary votes - not unexplained absence.
Policy literacy - not shallow talking points.
Clear reporting of constituency allocations - where did the money go, who benefited, what impact was delivered?
Open engagement - not filtered appearances.
Willingness to defend constituency interests even when it conflicts with party convenience.
Party loyalty cannot override duty to the people.
If your constituency suffers & you remain silent because of party hierarchy, that is not discipline - that is failure of representation.
Let me also address something uncomfortable.
Some Wakil Rakyat behave as though voters owe them obedience.
As though questioning them is insolence.
As though access to them is a privilege granted by grace.
That mindset is dangerous.
You do not control the Rakyat.
The Rakyat control your mandate.
Elections are performance reviews.
If a CEO underperforms, the board replaces him.
In democracy, the voters are the board.
Your seat does not belong to you.
It belongs to the constituency.
You are temporary custodians of public trust.
The Rakyat are permanent stakeholders of this nation.
Respect is not automatic because you hold office.
Respect is earned through delivery.
Leadership is not social media optics.
Leadership is not blaming previous administrations forever.
Leadership is measurable results.
What did you fix?
What waste did you reduce?
What inefficiency did you remove?
What policies did you improve?
How often are you present?
How accessible are you?
If the answers are weak, ego is unjustified.
This is not anger.
This is expectation.
We are not asking for favours.
We are demanding standards.
You are paid by the Rakyat.
You are elected by the Rakyat.
You are accountable to the Rakyat.
Serve with humility and competence - and you will be respected.
Serve with arrogance - & the next election will correct it.
That is not emotion.
That is democracy.🙏

It’s important to categorize friends. You can’t have the same expectations from every friend. Some are for laughs and will attend your parties but don’t call them in an emergency. Some will pick you up from the airport at 3am but don’t call them to vent. Some will hug you for an hour while you cry but won’t attend your birthday dinner cos they don’t do outside. It’s important to understand that one person cannot play every role for you. Categorize ppl so you don’t have to misplace expectations.
