@cremebruleluvr@thedimitri By the most liberal theological interpretation of sexual ethics, it's still a mortal sin within marriage unless sex ends naturally. But Saints who have directly addressed oral sex, like St. Alphonsus, concluded that it is a shameful, unnatural act, and a mortal sin, in ALL cases.
@charmingax@thedimitri You don't have to be Catholic to arrive at the same conclusions. I did it from moral intuition and first principles, and only later found out that the Catholic Church is the only Church which has upheld orthodoxy on sexual ethics.
@charmingax@thedimitri I mean, that first half is great. But I don't see how the latter half changes anything. It's still a form of sodomy; the unnatural use of a sex organ. This would be no different of an argument than if you'd said your wife "loves anal." Which, I'd hope, is obvious as a mortal sin.
@PeterSimple7695@isgoodactually@thedimitri St. Alphonsus Liguori's On Matrimony was published in Latin around 1750. So, it has. Only because his & other St's teachings were ignored, and liberal interpretations arose (such as by West), have these ideas of oral or anal sex as foreplay been viewed as an acceptable grey area.
@thedimitri I worded this in the most inflammatory way possible, for effect, and I regret that. Obviously rejecting abortion, promotion of homosexuality to children, and many other topics are more indicative of godly moral character than personal sexual sin. But the first half is still true.
@thedimitri She's right, though. It's mortal sin. This should be a wakeup call: somehow, radical feminists are more in tune with the holy spirit than many (most?) "conservatives."
@kawaiigorebomb@thedimitri TIL Satanism is when you don't violate the dignity of the human person through shameful sex acts which constitute mortal sin (St. Alphonsus, On Matrimony, Book VI, n. 491-492). I operate under the belief that the body is a temple of God (1 Cor 6:19) not to be misused. Do you?
@dexarok@thedimitri You don't have the foggiest idea how theology of the body and sexuality works. If you did, you wouldn't have to pretend like sticking your reproductive organ in another person's mouth is necessary for your survival. You're just a fag who's a slave to lust, degeneracy, and porn.
@obntsdtd@thedimitri "but also because this [act] is considered [to be], in itself, an abnormal type of pleasure against nature (as has been said of any type of shameful sex)." It's also worth noting that other theologians in his time who disagreed still considered it a venial sin. Never not a sin.
@obntsdtd@thedimitri This is a liberal position held by many people but it's not official and it's not supported by writings of Saints like Alphonsus. From On Matrimony, Book VI: "... not only because, in this act, on account of the warmth of the mouth, there is proximate danger of pollution," [1/2]
@CJeifler@thedimitri That's still not fine. At best, it's a gray area not worth travelling if it jeopardizes her dignity. Consult the Saints who have actually written about this topic, such as Saint Alphonsus, who explicitly calls oral sex a "shameful," unnatural act whether it ends in climax or not.
@Nick314159Nick@isgoodactually@thedimitri It's speculated by liberals as such; not declared. There are several Saints explicitly on record rejecting this notion, such as St. Alphonsus. "This type of act, even without climax, is "in itself ... against nature" ..." [Saint Alphonsus Liguori on Marital Chastity]
@Shadows_virtue@thedimitri I'd lean toward that being true, but you never know. Something other than misandry could've pushed them in that direction. My reply was divisive and doesn't accurately represent what I believe. I don't think largely pro-abort & lesbo radfems are more in tune than pro-lifers, etc.
@medievalgore@thedimitri That's not Catholic doctrine. It's speculation on an area not explicitly addressed. And by the same reasoning that any sex act is permissive prior to finishing, anal sex would be permissive. This is (I'd hope) obviously false, so it follows that such speculation is errant.
