Some of them are the most empathic people I have ever known. Yet according to you that's impossible because they never witnessed any empathetic behaviour.

@jsmhollander @odetteroulette @Margari0830 @iproposethis Okay I will look at that. However I have personally known many people who grew up in households where no empathic behaviour was displayed and yet still managed to have empathy themselves.

It's incredibly narcississtic and makes me want to avoid engaging in any kind of discussion with them. Since narcissists tend not to have empathy it kind of proves my point.

So many things wrong with this. Empathy does not need to be 'evoked'. It happens naturally through interaction between people. If you have to be taught empathy then something is seriously wrong with you.

Look through his Instagram Explore screen with him. Explain what's underlying those memes. Explain why "triggered" isn't a joke, what a PTSD trigger is actually like. Evoke empathy without shaming him.

Remind him you know he's a good person, but explain how propaganda works.

Otherwise all people are doing in replying to me is basically saying 'This person has a different opinion from me. How dare they?' Kind of like a toddler stamping their feet because somebody told them no.

@Margari0830 @iproposethis And BTW empathy is something that happens when people interact with each other. When a child is hurt and crying and another child remembers being hurt and comforts them for example. This is something people do naturally. If you have to be taught this there is something wrong.

@Margari0830 @iproposethis Sorry but I don't know what your point is exactly. I'm pretty sure I was talking about my son having empathy. Not 'people in bubbles.' And I don't recall saying that I don't have 'convos' with him. I'm quite sure I said that I don't need to because he's already a decent person.

@iproposethis My son is already well aware of this and already has empathy. He doesn't need it 'evoking'. He is not a narcissist. Empathy isn't something people should have to be taught because normal people already have it. Even very young children have it.

@FireBUnicorn @SusanBHigh1 @iproposethis Interesting. With my son I just let him be a kid instead. Strangely enough he's still managed to grow up with empathy and kindness. There's plenty of time for kids to learn how awful the world is without it being rammed down their throats on a daily basis.
