Trump’s Iran War closed the Srait of Hormuz, which have jacked up energy prices worldwide.

IMO, voters can more clearly see what the governor of their state is doing,
vs.

sending a US Senator to Washington, D.C. to be just one of many, to enact laws that affect them for sure, but in a much less direct manner.

You see this in North Carolina, which elected Josh Stein, who is slightly to the left of Roy Cooper, who beat Mark Robinson despite Trump winning North Carolina. Larry Hogan won reelection even during the 2018 Blue Wave. People like a steady hand as governor.
