The mask has fallen off. The US aggression in Venezuela is a desperate, violent scramble to secure the world’s largest oil reserves for the profit of American monopoly capitalists.

PISTON condemns this naked display of imperialist banditry. Every bomb dropped by the US in Venezuela is a pretext for price hikes in Manila.

While US oil giants drool over Venezuelan reserves, the Big Three cartel (Shell, Petron, Chevron) will use this instability to bleed Filipino drivers and commuters dry.

PISTON vehemently condemns the harassment and filing of trumped-up charges against Mike Cabangon, our PISTON Metro Baguio Coordinator and National Council member.

This latest attack by the state through the Terrorism Financing Prevention and Suppression Act of 2012 (TFPSA) exposes the government's desperation. Targeting a transport leader and cultural worker during the Christmas season is an act of cowardice.

Mike is another victim in the relentless streak of judicial harassment aiming to paralyze the people’s movement in the Cordillera.

Mike fights for the livelihood of drivers, operators and workers in the Cordillera. He is not a criminal. The real criminals are the corrupt officials plundering the nation's coffers and the fascists weaponizing the law against dissenters.

We condemn the LTO's dirty and cowardly tactics of impounding vehicles to sabotage the November 30 anti-corruption rallies. Authorities are using “colorum” allegations as a weapon to harass drivers and silence the people.

With fines reaching up to P200,000, this is nothing short of state-sponsored robbery against the poor! Fighting corruption is not a crime. The real crime is corruption itself and weaponizing traffic laws to suppress dissent.

Today we showed our solidarity with the farmers camped out at the Department of Agrarian Reform fighting for genuine land reform.

The continued rule of the landlords in the countryside, maintained by the bureaucrat capitalists in government and their imperialist masters through the big comprador bourgeoisie, only deepens the oppression, exploitation, and suffering of millions of peasants. Evidence of this are laws like the Rice Liberalization Law, the government’s dependence on imports, and the ruthless conversion of agricultural lands in the countryside.

Together with peasants and workers, we will tirelessly wage the struggle against the rotten system ruling the country.

Nothing can change the system but our sustained struggle for national democracy!

Seven straight weeks of pump-price increases have begun to shred the livelihoods of PUV drivers, operators, and the meager incomes of everyday commuters and ordinary consumers. Oil companies have announced another round of diesel and kerosene hikes this week, marking the seventh consecutive weekly increase.

Transport workers showed their strength today with strikes and protests across the country.

We stand with the broad mass of Filipinos being exploited and robbed by the corrupt Marcos regime.

No amount of spin or image-cleaning can hide the real face of Marcos and his cronies, their grip on power, their subservience to US imperialism and big corporations, and their role in keeping a rotten system that perpetuates inequality and poverty.

That’s why transport workers and the people have no choice but to take the path of militant struggle.

Marcos and every corrupt, fascist official, including the Dutertes, must be held accountable.

This will only happen if we unite and OUST the Marcos and Duterte regime, and replace it with a system that truly serves and is truly run by the people!
