i was doing so gr8 with whumptober. then my back went: wouldn't it be unfortunate...if one of these little discs....just.....SLIPPED again!? :D
and now im like 3 days behind and crying.
@talkforme22 Imo, there's an issue with people picking one scene/a few "big" scenes and then defining the entire character by them. (Ppl do this with all the characters but Frank seems to suffer a lot with the wildly different takes)
Unsure if we're generally in the business of sharing ao3 links here but why not! Whumptober is calling and I am answering in the form of: Langdon and Santos being forced into a 'this is our get-along trauma fic' scenario. Enjoy!

@mowalshdiary Fair! Also hey, we have reversed identities/headcanons lmfao (I am: a lesbian who sees her as bi!)
The overthought out backstory I have with her in a polycule with Abbot and his late wife leads me down the road of bisexuality and I give her what she wants. Which is: everyone.
@talkforme22@samcentric Thank you for saying it!!!! The Pitt fandom is EXCEPTIONALLY bad for this, ime. To the point it often could not be clearer some people do not actually care abt racism/misogyny/queerphobia etc - it's just a cheat code they slap down mid-argument to try and auto-win their point.
@papuvesi Yuuuup. And based on the fact he's still doing patient transfers per the s3 trailer I'm gonna go out on a limb and say he hasn't told anyone about his ongoing pain/is just trying to manage it himself/Conceal Don't Feel it which. That'll end well, I'm sure. /s
Manifesting the Pitt s3 addressing the fact that: the system failed Langdon long before Langdon failed the system.
He was prescribed meds for a chronic pain problem which was then mismanaged and he started stealing meds to cope after being left hanging by his doctor.
@papuvesi I remember ppl complaining abt not seeing the deposition but? We didn't need to? We saw the procedure in s1!? We don't need to talk about something we've seen!?
I looove Ellis and her dynamic with Frank. We know she WILL call him out if she sees him in pain and he Needs That.
@TotallySide i have so many Metas Pending (most on tumblr bc, lbr, i am WAY too yappy to do this shit on twitter lmfao).
I think I've talked a lil bit already abt Santos' trauma response but that might be the only one. I gotta step up ma game. Robby, Abbot, and Frank all have fun stuff too.
i gotta deep dive at some point on the way the Pitt depicts different character's responses to trauma bc there's a lot of interesting juicy things going on, oh yes.
@wolfontwt you did awesome, he looks great!!!!
I would love to see the otter characters as otters at some point if the fancy ever strikes you, but I imagine it's probably quite tough designing them. but rabbot are adorable. I wish them much happy swimming and many good pebbles!!
@going2malibu I'm gonna start sharing my raw google doc WIPs as they are.
Part exquisitely written, beautifully flowing complete prose.
Part 'is this a fuckin' play script???' pure dialogue with no connections or explanation.
and part 'notes to future me' that don't even make sense to me.
@papuvesi I don't think we need to go outside the hospital to explore anything tbh. We can do back pain in the hospital just fine and dandy! (we already have - Ellis clocks him/asks about it in 2x14, and I'm VERY curious to see how that develops esp). but other elements can bleed in, too.
@papuvesi (2/2) and that's also very subtle/you gotta kinda dig for it/work for it. But it's enough to make me think that there's at least an awareness there of the issues of pain management and the issues of it being down to whether or not a dr believes you're in 'enough' pain for help.
@papuvesi mhm. imo there IS a v subtle commentary on the subjectivity of pain/pain handling across different patients in s1 with the sickle cell patient, the opioid addict, and the Crohn's patient - it's down to the dr's judgement/their personal exp and HELLA subject to bias/abuse. (1/2)
