NEW: Shocking footage from Maharashtra, India, shows a family tragedy unfolding after an argument over a cellphone.

The dispute reportedly began when 18-year-old Kunal Chandgude demanded a new cellphone. Concerned for their son, his parents, Murlidhar and Sangeeta, followed him to a hilltop and tried to persuade him to return home.

Videos captured Kunal standing at the edge of a cliff and threatening to take his own life. His parents reportedly pleaded with him for hours to step away from the edge.

When his father grabbed his hand in an attempt to pull him to safety, the two lost their footing and fell from the cliff to their deaths. Moments later, the devastated mother also jumped from the cliff and died.
