⚠️ New details on what happened inside the Flydubai cockpit, in Captain Smit Machchar’s own account to the Israeli PM:

1️⃣ The flight was normal. The co-pilot said he wanted to pray, something Machchar says was not unusual among local pilots.

2️⃣ Machchar faced forward while the co-pilot prayed behind him.

3️⃣ Four or five minutes later, Machchar says he was suddenly struck hard on the back of his head.

4️⃣ His first thought was catastrophic aircraft damage. Then the blows kept coming. He realised it was the co-pilot attacking him.

5️⃣ The initial blows left his vision severely blurred. He tried to fight back, but says he could barely see.

6️⃣ His next sensation was the aircraft plunging sharply. His memory of these moments remains fragmented.

7️⃣ He recalls managing to open the cockpit door once, but says the co-pilot apparently shut it again.

8️⃣ Lying on the cockpit floor, he could hear the aircraft rushing through the air and passengers screaming.

9️⃣ Machchar says he realised he had “one last fight” left. His thought was brutally simple: if he didn’t act, he was going to die.

Axis Bank lent Sundev Appliances ₹16.69 crore in 2013 against a Vasai property in MH. The borrower stopped paying. The account went NPA in 2017. The bank moved to seize the security. The defaulter ran to the National Commission for ST and branded it an SC/ST Act offence! The NCST summoned MD & CEO Amitabh Chaudhry in person.
Bank went to the Delhi HC. In Oct 2025, Justice Sachin Datta stayed it. He said the summons to Chaudhary had no jurisdiction but the case is still going on.

It’s sickening the kind of hardship people can be put through for simply doing their job. The defaulter ducked the loan. NCST dragged bank’s top officials into it. Staff who only did recovery work get treated like criminals. How is a defaulted loan recovery an atrocity? SC/ST Act is meant to stop real attacks on SC/ST people, not to shield a defaulter from a mortgage. This is total misuse of act.

Without fearing for his own life, he fought valiantly and prevented another 9/11 like attack from happening.

Despite being stabbed and seriously injured, he fought back, resisted, opened the cockpit door, and enabled passengers and crew to overpower the attacker — preventing a catastrophic mid-air disaster.

He saved the lives of 174 people, including Israeli citizens and other nationals.

This story was narrated to us when we visited ISB for a training course. Rajat Gupta and his team has almost finalized the location for setting up the ISB when they heard this statement from Balasaheb. They developed cold feet and that's when the then AP CM (and now), Chandrababu Naidu stepped in.

He sent the state government aircraft to pick up Rajat Gupta and his team. He took them to site and asked them to set up the business school. Rajat Gupta had his conditions - complete autonomy, no reservations, no quotas etc. Chandrababu Naidu agreed to all of them under one condition - it should be a world class business school.
