"Even in the highly unlikely event that Australia would ever reach net zero carbon emissions, this would be cancelled out every fortnight by China,” said Cian Hussey, a research fellow at the Institute, who says continuing to pursue a goal of Net Zero amounts to “an act of devastating economic self-harm.”
Tony Abbott:
"We should never put reducing emissions ahead of national security and economic prosperity.
Reducing emissions is nice to do, but the net zero straitjacket is doing all sorts of damage to our country.
Let's be blunt—there is no climate crisis."
@MichaelPascoe01 No not a base. Australians need to be trained by experienced people to create this new sub industry in Australia, this creates Australian jobs and expands our industry base and skill set a lot quicker than if they didn’t come to support our project.
@KarlDHarrison@MeidasTouch Tariffs are effective depending on what and who they are put on and the time frame. Reagan was an excellent president and knew the value of tariffs. The unedited clip shows this.👌😀
@volcaholic1 Seems pretty much bang on average for high temps for the next week.
Lows actually look below Sydney averages.
But that’s ok - Cherry pick, as you always do. Carry on.
- Takes a lot of energy to get the raw materials
- Takes a lot of energy to make them
- Takes a lot of energy to ship them
- Takes a lot of energy to set them up
- Takes a lot of energy to distribute the power they produce
And they don’t produce much energy in return.
You’ve confused economic theatre with economic reality.
Governments don’t run on billionaire donations or your charity telethon emotions. A sovereign state with its own currency doesn’t need your taxes to “afford” public services – it can create liquidity at will. Taxes exist to regulate inflation and shape behaviour, not to fund spending.
Charity doesn’t exist because billionaires won’t pay for cancer treatments. Charity exists because governments actively choose not to allocate resources there. They prioritise war, lobbying interests, pensions of civil servants and vote-winning giveaways – not terminally ill children. That’s a policy choice, not a budget constraint.
Most major “charities” are multi-million-pound corporate entities with CEOs on six-figure salaries, marketing departments, and investment portfolios. Dressed up as compassion, they function as laundering vehicles for guilt and PR optics.
your comment is economically illiterate
@aaronsmith Wow that’s an astonishing 1.5% of total vehicles on NSW roads. All for the bargain price of tens of millions (or is that hundreds of millions?) of taxpayer dollars in subsidies.
