Proud to be in this photo of CCL's massive DC conference and lobby day last week. 500 Congressional meetings in support of revenue neutral, fully refunded carbon fee, dividend and border duty. @marinccl@citizensclimate
@hausfath There's no path to climate safety without a carbon tax. As long as fossil fuels remain artificially "cheap," their continued use is inevitable. Econ 101. @citizensclimate
@jherder As long as fossil fuels remain artificially "cheap," demand will continue. Industry is betting on it. A predictable, steeply rising carbon fee, refunded to citizens, with border carbon adjustments can harness the global econ to digging civilization out of this hole. #carbontax
@PaulHBeckwith@ConversationUK Unless the titanic power of money and markets is harnessed for our survival with a global carbon price and border adjustments, there’s no hope of reigning in emissions as long as FF remain artificially “cheap”.
@leahstokes We have the tech, but as long as FF remain artificially "cheap," demand will continue. As the entire US economics profession advocates, we need a revenue neutral, fully refunded carbon fee and border carbon adjustment. https://t.co/hX2nlxQV0M
BOOM! Rachel Maddow REFUSED to air Trump’s post-arrest remarks on MSNBC because they weren’t “newsworthy.”
“As far as we can tell…he is repeating his same lies and allegations against his perceived enemies,” she said.
The most significant part of her decision was that it stood apart from other networks. While MSNBC completely ignored Trump’s speech, Fox News predictably carried it in full, and CNN aired most of the address.
Giving Donald Trump full coverage has led to disaster before. We are VERY lucky to have journalists like Rachel Maddow! 💙
@RepHuffman@USProgressives Thank you, Rep. Huffman. Permitting reform will be tricky, but it must be done. HR1 looks like a Trojan horse which your team will resist.
@TeamPelosi@Goznobi For gods' sake then, stop referring to it as an "entitlement," a pejorative connoting expectation of something unearned and undeserved. SS has been earned, and the payouts are the obligation of the government. Period.
Buckle up! The circus is in town: Get Ready for Garbage Politics. The Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government is Just the Start, by @ruthbenghiat https://t.co/FGPffpuwI4
@richardheinberg This is why we need a carbon tax. It's economy-wide. Everyone swims in the atmosphere and the economy. Give the proceeds back to people and they'll tolerate harnessing the economy to our salvation. Without it....
@ClimateHuman Aside from the pointlessness of this attention grabber is the fact that nobody's going to "Just Stop Oil." As long as it's cheap, its damages "externalized" from costs, it WILL be used. Demonstrate instead for effective carbon pricing. @citizensclimate
