In February 1991, the Iraqi Army was considered the fourth largest in the world. Their Republican Guard was battle-hardened and dug into defensive positions in the desert. They were waiting for the Americans to stumble into a trap.
But they didn't account for the speed of Eagle Troop.
The Blind Charge A blinding sandstorm had reduced visibility to almost zero. Captain H.R. McMaster, commanding a troop of nine M1A1 Abrams tanks, was pushing forward aggressively. He wasn't waiting for the enemy; he was hunting them.
Suddenly, the troop crested a small rise. Through the thermal sights, the desert floor lit up. They had driven directly into the center of an entire Iraqi armored brigade—over 80 tanks and vehicles.
The 23-Minute War In previous wars, this would have been a disaster. In 1991, it was a slaughter.
McMaster didn't hesitate. He gave the order: "Fire, fire, fire!"
The American tanks were outnumbered nearly 10 to 1, but they fired with a speed and precision the world had never seen. The M1A1s were hitting targets while moving at full speed. The Iraqi shells bounced off the American armor, while the American depleted-uranium rounds sliced through the Iraqi T-72s like butter.
The Wall of Fire It wasn't a battle; it was a deletion. Eagle Troop cut through the enemy line like a buzzsaw. In just 23 minutes, McMaster’s nine tanks destroyed 28 Iraqi tanks, 16 personnel carriers, and 30 trucks.
The enemy didn't even have time to traverse their turrets.
The Legacy The Battle of 73 Easting became the textbook definition of modern armored warfare. Eagle Troop suffered zero casualties.
They proved that the American Army had evolved into a force of overwhelming dominance. They showed that when technology meets aggression, the battle is over before the enemy even knows it has begun.
“emphasize that our joint Arctic exercises pose no threat,”
Why would they ever say this? No one in the US believes they’re even capable of threatening our country.

"Tariff threats are undermining transatlantic relations.
We declare our full solidarity with Denmark and Greenland, emphasize that our joint Arctic exercises pose no threat, and reaffirm our commitment to defending sovereignty."

Dear Starbase and spaceflight community,
As we begin 2026, we extend our sincere thanks to each of you who have supported us over the past six years. From the earliest days of Starhopper and MK1 to the present era of Starship development, you have been an integral part of our journey.
Today, alongside the release of Episode 200 of our weekly update series, we are pleased to share our vision and plans for the years ahead.
First, we are committed to enhancing our live stream coverage, providing higher-quality streams, expanded camera views, expert commentary, and informative graphics for launches, vehicle assembly, and missions worldwide.
Today we are also launching our new website, featuring comprehensive news articles, upcoming launch schedules, and integrated live video feeds. This website is very much a "make it exist first, make it better later" situation, but we're very happy with how the new site is shaping up.
Furthermore, we are committed to providing breaking spaceflight news more rapidly than ever, supported by our expanding team, through increased social media updates, short-form videos, and articles on the new site.
Our content will continue to prioritize factual reporting while becoming more accessible and engaging for both newcomers and longtime enthusiasts, incorporating contextual graphics and detailed breakdowns. Further details on an upcoming community-driven project will be shared in the near future.
While maintaining our renowned 24/7 coverage of Starbase operations, we will broaden our scope to include comprehensive reporting from Cape Canaveral, other U.S. sites and international launch locations.
These initiatives represent the foundation of a larger evolution. In the coming weeks and months, you will see progressive enhancements across our platforms as we build toward a new standard in spaceflight coverage—all while preserving the strong sense of community that has always defined us.
To reflect this broader mission and the passionate spirit of our audience, we are proud to introduce Avid Space to the world. This new venture will encompass our expanded global spaceflight coverage and educational efforts. LabPadre Video will continue to focus on ground operations at Starbase and Cape Canaveral to bring you the uninterrupted 24/7 coverage you've come to know and love.
Updates to our YouTube channel name and X handle will follow in the coming days to reflect the new name. We will share additional information as these changes take effect.
We invite you to join us in this exciting next phase, and if you want to get involved, don't hesitate to reach out. We're eager to bring on passionate new talent to achieve the goal of bringing you the best in space news.
Thank you for your continued support.
With gratitude,
The Avid Space team

🚨🇺🇸 META EXPANDS AI POWER WITH NEW $1.5B TEXAS DATA CENTER
Imagine a giant computer that could power an army of smart robots.
Meta just started building it in El Paso, and it’s gonna be huge.
How huge? It’ll use enough electricity to light up all of San Francisco for a day.
All for Zuckerberg’s dream AI that might one day run the world... or at least your phone.
They're dropping $1.5 billion, hiring 1,800 builders, and calling it “100% green” while it slurps up water like a camel on Red Bull.
This is Meta’s third mega-site in Texas, pushing their total spend in the state past $10B.

🚨🇺🇸 ARIZONA FLOODS FOR CHARLIE KIRK
What started as estimates of 100,000 has now surged to as many as 300,000 pouring into Arizona for Charlie Kirk’s memorial.
The sheer scale is jaw-dropping. This is a movement rather than a crowd, showing up in force, determined to etch today into history.
This will be remembered as one of the defining gatherings of modern America.

I’ve sat through over 50 hours of Charlie Kirk’s videos as an ethnically Black American.
Not one racist word.
Not 1.
What Democrats do is cut snippets, strip context, and shove sound bites at the same gullible slob audience too lazy to fact-check.
That isn’t exposing racism .. it’s manufacturing lies to spark division.
