Terrific discussion with @pkinemo, MSI's Country Director for Tanzania; Dr. Charles Ssonko of @MSF_canada and Lord Smith, former Secretary of State hosted by the @Independent in which we discussed the impacts of foreign aid cuts on our efforts to end #AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. Despite these cuts, we can achieve our goal with the right resources given to the right communities at the right time – including new preventative drugs capable of helping lower the rate of new infections. @UNAIDS

On the eve of #WorldAIDSDay, the @ICALondon is holding a special screening of the @Independent's film about the impact of the international funding crisis on the global #HIV response.
Earlier this year, the newspaper’s Chief International Correspondent, @Beltrew travelled to Uganda and Zimbabwe to film programmes that have been affected.
After the screening I am very much looking forward to joining @pkinemo, MSI’s Country Director for Tanzania; Dr Charles Ssonko, of Médecins Sans Frontières and Lord Smith, former Secretary of State to explore the implications of the cuts.
I’ll also share insights from @UNAIDS new report "Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response."
We can still end #AIDS – but we need global solidarity to get to the finish line!

As @ECSA_HC, we remain committed to forging strong partnerships that advance our regional health agenda. I was pleased to meet with Dr. Omary Chillo, President of the Tanzania Health Summit (@TzHealthSummit), to explore avenues for collaboration; particularly around initiatives that promote youth leadership in health and nutrition.
We are excited to pursue concrete actions and joint efforts that will create meaningful spaces for young people to actively contribute to shaping health priorities across the region.
Congratulations to Dr. Brenda Dmello, our Technical Advisor for Maternal & Newborn Health, for receiving the Community Impact Award in Obs & Gyn at the 28th AGOTA Meeting held in Zanzibar.

Cervical cancer kills 350 000 women each year, and another 600 000 are diagnosed. Yet it could become the first cancer in history to be eliminated, thanks to HPV vaccines and timely screening and treatment. That is why I made a Call to Action in 2018.
I’m so inspired by the dedication of the health ministers and delegates at the #WHA78 to make it a reality.
Yesterday, they also decided that the day we launched a global strategy to eliminate it — 17 November — will be officially recognized as World #CervicalCancer Elimination Day.
This annual reminder will promote collective efforts for the health of women and girls everywhere.
I look forward to joining you in action this November!
Today, our Country Director @pkinemo had the pleasure of visiting @BuffaloBicycles
It was an insightful experience to learn more about their impactful work and explore opportunities for collaboration.
Buffalo Bicycles is currently supporting the government by providing bicycles to Community Health Workers, enhancing their ability to reach communities with health education and demand creation efforts.
We look forward to potential partnerships that drive shared goals in community health and sustainable development.

The outreach teams received key updates and discussed how they can be better supported in their operations. It was also a great opportunity for various departments to share important updates and explore ways to further support the team.

🌸 Happy New Month! 🌸
April is dedicated to Maternal Health, a time when the world marks Health Day and the International Day for Maternal Health and Rights.
These days are vital as we continue advocating for Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights, empowering women to access essential reproductive health services. Ensuring access to reproductive healthcare helps reduce maternal deaths, prevent unintended pregnancies, and promote the health and well-being of both mothers and children.
