@adamnash My olallieberries are ripening here in San Mateo, ate my first one today! Do you have advice on pruning blackberries? I read today that canes don’t fruit their first year and now pruning seems like it’ll be a lot harder.
@jordanchez@mikeindustries I just got a table and chairs from Polywood a few weeks ago and they are awesome. 20 yr warranty! Costco might carry these ones, or ordering direct is painless too.
@cynk This doesn’t get at the root of the discomfort, but I do suggest turning off the “self view” for lots of reasons. I find it exhausting seeing / evaluating myself constantly throughout meetings.
@BergFulton Have also wondered this. Tandem + Dex is so much better than Medtronic though, at least frequency of alarms. Many per day to a couple per week now. The horror klaxon sound and the inability to quickly dismiss are so annoying though. Error design is crucial, and is lost on pumps.
@dunstan I’ve made it four times and haven’t seen that result. It is a wetter dough, but not that wet. Was your yeast from the grocery store (instant, ideally) or from the same baker. They may have yeast that doesn’t work without being activated or something.
@ventrebleu I’d be happy to chat if you’re interested in edtech with a real, big global impact. Udemy has an office in the South Bay or our HQ in SF. Our design system is doing well and you could absolutely make it better.
@joshuanguyen Doesn’t pass the logic test, though that’s imperfect. Still: my kid definitely was sick frequently and frequently got us sick while daycare was open. Kids hygiene is imperfect at best.

@abstractsunday I believe you shared this talk at 99u in 2015. Hearing about imposter syndrome and fear from a number of people who I (and so many others) admire was transformative. Thank you so much for sharing.
@waxpancake@dunstan@jkottke@mathowie By far, to me, the most amazing thing is that the OP is the one who answered your AskMeFi post.
Still such a great place after all these years.
@dunstan Sounds like a challenge :) The Lemond one I have has a single (felt, I think) pad that rests on top of the wheel. Pressure on the pad is increased by twisting a knob. Maybe an alternative to the leather belt tensioner could be jury rigged?
@dunstan That is maybe 10 or 100 times louder than I would have guessed. Does it sound worse in the video? I have a not-quite-as-ancient Lemond trainer that uses resistance and is absolutely silent. I think it uses felt pads. Have to lube with 3 in 1 oil or mineral oil periodically tho.
@cynk [I haven't tried this, but] Wonder if retraining your Face ID with a mask on would solve this? FaceID on iOS seems to use my eyes more than the rest of my (bearded) face. Works while I brush my teeth, cover my mouth, etc. So maybe removing detail would force reliance on eyes?
@Shripriya We have been very delighted with Wave Broadband (in San Mateo) for a few years. Faster, cheaper, reliable. I also own my own modem which isn't attached to whatever random wifi / TV / phone stuff they all want to push.
@dunstan Maybe I’ll try learning. I could probably make my neighbors lose their minds with the quiet sound skipping rope (or muttered curses) from my driveway at 10pm.
