Plague Tracker is now live !
Built to make it easier to follow how the plague is spreading in real time.
The tracker uses live data feeds and indexed activity to keep updates fast and the experience simple.
100% of the fees will be used to improve and scale Plague Tracker, including API upgrades, better data indexing, faster RPC infrastructure, improved caching, higher uptime, and backend optimizations to keep everything running smoothly as usage grows.
The goal is simple: turn raw activity into something visual, readable, and easy to follow.
Track the spread.

Important news :
CDC is now officially monitoring the suspected pneumonic plague case in Russia.
The world is watching Irkutsk, and @plague_tracker will monitor the situation !
CDC is aware of and closely monitoring reports of a suspected case of pneumonic plague in the Irkutsk region of Russia that resulted in a death. We are working across the U.S. government to assess developments as additional information becomes available.
While the circumstances of this reported case remain unconfirmed, plague is a serious bacterial disease that is treatable with antibiotics, particularly when recognized and treated early.
Pneumonic plague can spread person-to-person through respiratory droplets during close contact, which is why rapid identification and treatment of infected individuals, and monitoring of potentially exposed individuals, are important public health measures.
At this time, there is no indication of a broader threat to the United States, but CDC and our interagency partners are prepared and will continue to monitor the situation closely.
Great suggestion. I'm going to look at adding a toggleable global BSL-3 / BSL-4 laboratory layer to the tracker, with the laboratory level, institution, status and source.
I'll make sure geographic proximity is presented strictly as contextual information rather than implying any causal relationship with reported plague cases.
I'm currently looking at Global BioLabs and published BSL-3/4 mapping datasets as potential sources. If you know of a particularly reliable dataset or registry you'd recommend, I'd be very interested.

Taylor Swift released her new song "Patient Zero" on September 25th, 2026.
The same day the literal plague supposedly escaped from a lab in Russia.
This was also exactly 6 months, 6 years and 6 days since the first COVID-19 lockdown.
