@CHRISF0GLE Read this as if "white people be like David Foster Wallace" were the subject of the sentence and were the name of some comedy sketch I hadn't heard of
Your 2026 Roland Garros Women’s Semifinalists.
Diana Shnaider.
Maja Chwalinska.
Marta Kostyuk.
Mirra Andreeva.
Someone is winning their first Grand Slam title.
Who will it be? 🏆
I dislike Kostyuk, but if these questions are going to be put to Ukrainian players, Russians should face the same questions. And very importantly so should Americans.
Marta Kostyuk on Russian players who avoid giving a clear stance on the war, 'I wish there was some more clear stance on what's going on especially when your country is killing other people'
"Shnaider, after she beat Oliynykova, said, 'I'm not playing an opponent, I'm playing against a ball because the ball is the same.' Andreeva was talking about playing a Ukrainian player, 'I really try against the ball coming at me, it doesn't matter who I'm playing against' is it frustrating to hear? It almost sounds like they're trying to avoid talking about the situation. Is it frustrating?"
"For me it's not frustrating anymore. They are all grown ups. They know what they're talking about, they know whats going on. They have phones, they have instagram, they have news. They're clearly aware of what's going on. If this is something that they want to avoid talking about, they have to live with this, not me. I mean what can I say?"
"They pick a strategy that works for them and that's it. Obviously, not much I can do about it. I wish there was some more clear stance on what's going on especially when your country is killing other people. I don't know how you can sleep at night peacefully when you know that this is going on and you have nothing to say about it. Not much more I can say."

I'm seeing a lot of people sharing 5 American authors they admire. What about 5 American novels?
My choices would perhaps be:
- Moby-Dick (Melville)
- East of Eden (Steinbeck)
- The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (Twain)
- The Great Gatsby (Fitzgerald)
- The House of the Seven Gables (Hawthorne)
- The Sound and the Fury (Faulkner)
Yes, I can count, but I couldn't leave Faulkner out of the list.
