Science is the belief in the ignorance of experts. When someone says 'science teaches such and such', he is using the word incorrectly. Science doesn't teach anything, experience teaches it.
@waynestape1906 You make a good point, Wayne. I assumed people in the church generations ago knew the Bible better than they do today, but I don't have evidence to that effect. Discernment may be fostered by understanding worldviews, though I'm not yet certain of that either.
@waynestape1906 Certainly. The question is how teach the body to distinguish tradition from essential doctrine AND subordinate tradition to that doctrine. Nowhere do old habits die harder than in the church.
