What will happen with #globalwarming if everyone gets an electric vehicle right now? A spike in emissions (battery manufacturing!) & lower driving emissions. The real difference comes with green electricity. Test it yourself in our simulator: https://t.co/R134ZKNBj2!
In #PlanetScorcher (https://t.co/y0gpjZM14b) we show total amount of CO2eq like on the screen. Yeah, teratons... And whatever we emit will be impacting the climate for more than 150 years. In other words - when everyone decides to act it will be too late (so we have to act now!)
@PauIRob Well - we have the answer to this chart covered in the game:)! It correlates nicely with solar cycles. Yes, the Sun does whatever it wants - but it just happens to be in the past many many years, it was oscillating. And that is one of the key reasons for short-term temp cycles.
We have added dozens of feedback mechanisms into #PlanetScorcher climate sim mobile game (https://t.co/y0gpjZM14b). Arctic Sea ice melt is a simple one (& relatively benign...) with one of the mechanisms being higher temp➡️less ice (darker surface)➡️more heat➡️even higher temp.
Is it 4 degrees C in the pipeline? @antonioguterres
5 degrees C in the pipeline? International #Climate Scientists
7 degrees C in the pipeline? James Hansen et al.
All terrifying. 4 degrees = a population of 1 billion . *Schellnhuber

If we cover all buildings and road with white paint, it could reduce the global temperature by a fraction of a degree C. Not nearly enough to stop the #globalwarming, but still a step in a good direction. Check the "White Roof" policy in #planetscorcher!
@PGDynes Many scientists stick to specific area and do not into account feedback & connected events (because it is incredibly complex and often simply uncertain). Example: Arctic Sea ice melt is raising sea level but also reduces reflectivity, adds fresh water distrupting currents etc
@scottsantens We replicated major known temperature models, added “probable” feedback events and put it into a simple game (check it out, btw, Planet Scorcher https://t.co/wJTgX613lL!). The results are similar - and it is to large extend down to the solar activity cycle
@ToddCefaratti_@peterdevietien@JunkScience That chart has the time axis with 5 million years as the minor unit. Today, we are looking at similar change of temperature achieved in couple of dozens of years.
@Raymondoc3 Of course! The lifestyle emissions are many dozens times higher than an average person (but that is negligible impact). How they invest is what matters more. Top 125 richest people generated emissions equivalent of France from their investments). Please check the game anyway;)

If we go much above 2C will quickly get to 4 C.
4 degrees only supports 1 billion people.

The whole of Australia is like an oven 😪. This in a La Niña year - wow. What is El Niño going to bring to this land mass in 12 months' time? Get ready for a fire season like never before...and 2020 was already amazingly bad.
Ironically, there is a non-zero chance that the #globalwarming will make these a thing of the past. With Europe’s mild climate largely dependent on gulf stream and northern jet stream, disruption in these can make the continent a much harsher place.
The BBC reports that extreme #temperatures were seen in Bilbao, northern Spain, which reached 25.1°C on Sunday - a 10 degree jump from the month's usual average. Meanwhile, Liechtenstein’s capital of Vaduz hit 20°C and the Czech Republic town of Javornik saw highs of 19.6°C.
