had a big unlock with the snake website
the only food is from other snakes dying or eating a mouse. this changes the dynamics far more than I thought it would and makes the game actually feel alive
skip to the end at around 1:10 to see some mouse hunting
huge step toward more detailed worlds with live terrain sculpting, painting, grass, wind and props.
i also overhauled the allocator so that it dynamically manages everything to ensure you see things really far away, keep everything nearby in high detail, and aggressively stay under GPU budget.
and yep, this still runs nicely on my six year old iphones web browser!
Testing our new @_portals_ game and this might be the coolest Bug we've ever found. Interestingly, when a player misses an anomaly, the game overrides the players time to show every second since 1st January, 1970.
Because of course it does.
(white boxes are a bug too but sh).
a web based @threejs streamed open-world with 100 unique players running on my 6 year old iphone 12 pro.
ai lets me fail fast and go in a bunch of directions until something lands. this would have taken me years without ai!
i ended up building a budgeting system for both plots (lods) and avatars (ghost+cull). vram on mobile devices is hyper critical - safari will just kill the page if you go over ~150MB.
and yes... every player here is representative of a real player with completely unique wearable meshes each, although animations are all shared and happen on the gpu.
