Menstrual hygiene is a fundamental right for every girl.

Through the “Girls Decide in Supportive and Protective Communities” project, 2,910 girls have acquired practical skills to make reusable sanitary pads - a critical step towards safe and dignified menstruation.

In partnership with @guidesrwanda, we have established three menstrual hygiene hubs working with 97 sexual and reproductive health and rights clubs across local communities in @NyaruguruDistr , @BugeseraDistr and @GatsiboDistrict. These hubs empower girls in three key ways:

✅ Build practical skills: Hands-on training in making reusable sanitary pads equips girls with sustainable, cost-effective solutions.
✅ Promote safe menstrual hygiene: Girls learn safe practices for using, washing, drying and storing their pads.
✅ Build confidence: Girls confidently challenge stigma and misconceptions surrounding menstruation.

On today’s 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, we shine a spotlight on the need to equip young people with life-changing skills. This is a commitment that @PlanRwanda and partners put into action through our work in local communities, especially for girls.

26-year-old Clarisse is one such example. Earning her permanent motorcycle driving licence stands as proof that when girls are empowered with technical work skills, they can unlock pathways to employment and build healthy, secure futures. 🏍️

Through a youth economic empowerment initiative in @NyaruguruDistr, we have supported 57 young people - 31 girls and 26 boys - to obtain permanent driving licences for motorcycles and cars.
