Currently enjoy #VeganCheeseSummerCamp 2021 edition. Martine van Haperen teaches us the basics for making vegan cheese today. Excited to try my first cashew mozzarella later today 🧀

I was just reviewing a colleague's student's CV & it hit home: academia does a horrible job prepping students to write CVs for industry positions. Here are a few pieces of advice based on my experience, but I want to hear from my industry friends!! #ScienceTwitter#lifeadvice 🧵
@sciencewithtyus As the only PhD among teachers I got asked often about other subjects content or if I agree with theory xyz from teacher x 😅 Go for it, @sciencewithtyus - could be a great experience and you seem to have a vision for why and how so thats perfect! Good luck. 🙏
@sciencewithtyus From my POV its really worth a try if this is your only job, if you can negotiate your salary even better. Best would be to know your teacher colleagues so you can refer to their classes for some of the content if it fits and hold students accountable to their learning tasks. 3/

@herpetALLogy Yeah, what do you do then? The (awesome!) YT vid doesn´t answer that 😐
Marking these tiny salamanders (ouch? 🤔) and then being able to find them again sounds nearly impossible. Finding marked animals of a bigger size is a challenge already. Any info on the "refind" rates?
😱Salamanders in trees! Thats just amazing. So many questions on their lifestyle... Humidity in tree canopy?! General adapted salamander morphology??! Predation??!!! 🤩
A lot of people know that the old-growth redwood trees in the pacific northwest of the United States are some of the tallest trees on Earth. Did you know there are salamanders living in the canopies of those trees?
Lets talk about plant blindness: Die Verzerrung unserer Wahrnehmung gegenüber Pflanzen. Eine Folge davon ist, dass die tatsächliche Pflanzenvielfalt vor Ort weitgehend ignoriert und in ihrer Bedeutung nicht wahrgenommen wird. (1/6)
A few weeks ago we visited this great habitat in search for Vipera berus. It was sunny and 5 °C or so, snow still at the edge of the forest. We found one, but it quickly slid away. So here´s a Podarcis muralis that was halfway-willing to get its picture taken 😁

The answer is YES!
If you were wondering if you should throw your hat in the ring... TODAY IS THE FINAL DAY to apply! Blow the dust off that Curriculum Vitae now! https://t.co/BMRfNJTcZW
@shannonbuttimer @ObedHG @yap_ta Hah, I should have put 🤔 and maybe a silly face to make it clear it was not a dead serious question. Anyway, I know "road kill" and "key to flattened animals" (not sure it exists). Will def use "pancake" now as well, makes a lot of sense to me that term 👍😅
@skwinnicki Must be ticks, leaches, mosquitos and the nightly imagination what kind of diseases you might pick up from them. The sophisticated level of improvisation required to repair machinery in the wild that you borrowed from the locals 😬 The masses of reptiles. Everywhere.
