We had a brief period of sunshine @chicagobotanic today, so lab managers Lindsey and Alex explored the woods and found some flowering friends! The skunk cabbages and winter aconite are looking lovely.

I've had my peace lily for 6.5 years now. It started out as a semi baby plant 🪴 that I cycled home comfortably with from @PrahranMarket it's a reminder of growth @PlantLoveStory
Every person who photographs mushrooms and lichen, flowers or frogs. You are the non-weird people. Weird is walking past it all not noticing it any of it. I mean life is amazing, not seeing or caring about life is weird. And I will always be here thinking how cool you all are.
For about two hundred million autumns, ginkgo and its ancestors have gilded the soil. An old rhythm and celebration. The golden circle around each tree is a sun disk, a memory of summer's light.
The sensual gifts of plants come to us from deep time and will far outlast us.
One thing I really enjoy doing as a #BlackBotanistsAtWork is educating others about plants. I give presentations and tours to groups of all ages, covering topics such as general botany, native plants, plant pests and diseases, and climate change. #BlackBotanist#educator
Really humbled by the #BlackBotanistsWeek2022 initiative. I thought I was all alone in this field and didn't have many people to connect with, particularly in Africa, but I have now met a lot of awesome people whom I look forward to sharing wonderful experiences with. Asante!
Day 4: #BlackBotanistsAtWork#BlackBotanistsWeek2022
I am a field person but lab work is an integral part of my project. Here I was counting belowground buds of grasses and forbs.
