This #WorldRefugeeDay, we celebrate the resilience and potential of girls in crisis.
Cecili, a South Sudanese refugee living in Adjumani, is one of 1,200 girls whose lives have been transformed through the #GirlsInCrisis Project. With livelihood skills and opportunities, she now runs a thriving craft business, supports her family, and is building a brighter future.
When girls are empowered, they can break the cycle of poverty and become agents of change in their communities.

Safety is more than protection from harm, it is access to education, clean water, healthcare, and the opportunity to dream.
Together with refugees in 8 settlements across Uganda, we are helping create safe spaces where girls in crisis can recover, learn, and grow despite the challenges of displacement.
This #WorldRefugeeDay, we celebrate the resilience of girls and continue working towards a world where every child feels safe and supported.

1 in 5 children are now living in or fleeing conflict, and girls face some of the greatest risks - including sexual violence, child marriage, & attacks on their education.
Every child, wherever they live, should have the right to safety & hope.

What a day without water for girls looks like...๐ค
Every day, girls lose valuable time walking long distances to collect water.
This #DayOfTheAfricanChild, girls raise their voices, sharing experiences, making a call for investment in water, sanitation, and hygiene
#DAC
The Price of a day without water for girls!
No water. No school. No safety. No future for girls.
Every day without accessible water is a day lost from education, health, and opportunity.
Across many communities, girls spend valuable hours walking long distances to collect water, time that would be spent learning, resting, and building their futures. Lack of safe water and sanitation continues to affect school attendance, health outcomes, and economic progress.
The cost is too high: ๐ง Girls can miss up to 11% of school days due to inadequate water and sanitation. ๐ง Many girls spend up to an hour or more each day collecting water. ๐ง In Uganda, 33 children die daily from diarrhoeal diseases linked to unsafe water and poor hygiene. ๐ง Poor WASH services cost Uganda nearly 3% of its GDP.
Water is more than a basic need, it is a pathway to education, dignity, and equality.
This is their day everyday๐ https://t.co/lqdzoltQgo
This #DayofTheAfricanChild We call upon leaders, partners, and decision-makers to prioritize investments in water, sanitation, and hygiene because every day without water costs girls their future

For millions of girls, it's a day without school, safety and dignity.
This is their day. Everyday ๐ https://t.co/VKvtRhj2Xk
Today, as we mark #DayoftheAfricanChild, we are calling on leaders, decision makers and stakeholders toย guarantee;
โ Safe water
โ Proper sanitation
โ Dignity for every child
Because no girl should have to choose between water and her education, safety or dignity.
Investing in water is investing in girls.

Today, young advocates from @GNB_Uganda took over the Parliament of Uganda during the Youth Mock Parliament on Menstrual Hygiene Management.
Their message was clear: menstruation should never stop a girl from learning, growing, or living with dignity.
