@MaryPovich@satsyd_finsun beautiful implication here. these small homonculi were birthed by aerosmith and will grow up into identical full-size aerosmiths. aerosmith persists through asexual reproduction… how many generations of the band deep are we? why is nobody talking about this
@teswoketoi@siddiebop saw a hijabi girlie in seattle who was absolutely glittering under the streetlights, it was like her hijab was inlaid with diamonds I swear to god it was the most spectacular look
@nxd1979 these kinds of warnings do feel unserious, but there’s real danger in its influence on us. if AI (or power using AI) wanted to start a war, it’s feasible that it could manipulate/disseminate info to achieve that. we are not often wise creatures and we make stupid decisions
@FearInherent this vid does not provide proof of that tho
sure, there is poverty in china. and in the US. and every other country in the world
point remains: this framing does not provide proof + relies on biases + functions as propaganda — it is not good critique !!
“living on $290/month”/ “one of the lowest shares of GDP” aren’t inherently bad, they’re being framed as such w/o evidence of impact
all states have some level of debt, I’d rather overspend on infrastructure than war
propaganda + media literacy are ever-relevant
Hasan Piker loves China. Its economic system remains a minor gap in his expertise.
From our new members-only episode with Frank Dikötter, one of the preeminent historians of modern China.
@FearInherent under a different econ/politic system, social programs, cultural makeup — would it be unlivable? I am not sure!
but they make the claim, they gotta prove it — this vid relies on expectations + biases to fill in the gaps
@FearInherent fair criticism, didn’t word my point well
video invokes “poor standard of living” but assumes “standard of living always tied to income” — not inherently true
in the US $290/mo is unliveable. they don’t provide evidence that same is true in China — burden of proof is on them
@agnostic_joe I really hope so! would love to see that kind of change implemented + I think majority of people would want it too. but our govt is one where interests of billionaires + businesses are priority — massive hurdle in the way of positive change
