The Garifuna people of San Juan are defending more than land, they are defending their history, culture, livelihood, and collective survival.
Honduras must end the persecution of Garifuna leaders, drop the charges against community defenders, and honor the binding 2023 Inter-American Court ruling protecting their ancestral territory.
Human rights are not optional, and the world is watching.

Yesterday was #InternationalWomensDay, and last week marked 10 years since Indigenous and environmental rights defender, Berta Cáceres, was assassinated. A decade later, her legacy continues to inspire movements for justice and environmental protection across the Americas. Yet the fight for accountability for her murder remains unfinished.
Earlier this year, the #GIEIHonduras report concluded that Berta's killing was the result of a carefully planned criminal operation involving hired assassins, intermediaries with military ties, and actors connected to the company behind the Agua Zarca project, enabled by networks of tolerance and omission within sectors of the State.
To this day, justice for Berta remains incomplete. I urge the Government of Honduras to fully implement the recommendations of the GIEl and to pursue accountability for all actors who participated in or enabled her assassination.
Bad Bunny’s show wasn’t revolutionary and it wasn’t “soft imperialism” (yes, some are calling it that) - it was a celebration of Latin American culture and a nod to PR independence. That’s all, nothing more, nothing less.
If we want more, something more substantial and ideologically sharp then go to our radical intellectuals - there’s plenty of them. From Mariategui to Martí - or Rodney. Expecting it from a reggaeton artist and writing statuses about how insubstantial it was is just lazy.
Critiquing Bad Bunny’s art is easy, lazy, cheap engagement. Go do it with our sophisticated ideologues, with our radical thinkers. Yea, you’re not going to get those thousands of likes, it’s not as motivating.
Bad bunny should have brought out Ivy Queen instead of Lady Gaga… oh and Don Omar
el conejo male debería de haber hecho salir a Ivy Queen en vez de Lady Gaga… oh y Don Omar
