Another before and after with the early antagonist, Dodger. I kind of threw together his initial portrait starting out game dev and it’s haunted me for a while. This is a theme lately with my posts but I feel so good knowing the studies and work is paying off

Been working on updates to the lighting so the characters feel like they interact with the world more
I didn't really like that "HD" overlay they have, so I'm working on updating the shader. This is an area past the casino I'm working on

Been working on updating the game's art - inevitable with improvement lol. Sona is in the works
Also working on making battles feel more satisfying with the new animation system

I don't really show cutscenes much, but this triggers after you leave the pawn shop early on.

Expressive RPG dialogue felt important to me, so I reworked portraits to feel a bit more like something like MegaMan Battle Network (love that game).
For mouth movements I focused on real phonics to try to give it a different feel. So it actually looks at letters. #gamedev
Another new versus old. I think I'm going to push the skin tone more on Chase, the excessive gambler. Also wanted a hairstyle that has that feeling a bit more than before.
The old Chase was the first one I drew just to have something in-game.

Updated the full body art for Liz in the MixHeart stat screen. I think it feels cleaner but I’m sure I will polish it again later.
Honestly don’t even want to share the original lol. Little steps at a time

Reworking Liz’s portraits still to include a wider range of emotions.
Portraying characters correctly during dialogue is something I’ve put a larger focus on as initially it was to make it exist. So it’s time to make her portraits look good now
