@noobde Would it be gauche to say the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie? Maybe it came to mind because, well, obviously, but it was the coolest thing I had ever seen when I was 9 and I love it to this day. One of the few films I have a physical copy of!
Finally got around to watching The Witch From Mercury. Episode 0 got me excited for mecha war show (my favorite), episode 1 immediately deflated that excitement when it revealed that it's mecha high school sports drama.
