Four years in the making, the #Kubernetes Gateway API had over 170 contributors (the most yet of any #K8s project) and 30 contributing organizations. v1 GA released last week… “We needed people to buy in and they did”— @robertjscott and @youngnick#Kubecon
Completely full room to learn about the future of Multi Network in Kubernetes. This change feels like it could be as big as dual stack was for Kubernetes, excited to see it becoming a reality.

Very excited to have had an opportunity to write for @GoogleOSS. This post tells the story of Gateway API - how it evolved from the high level idea of "Ingress v2" and the key decisions that helped define the what the API would become.
GKE Multi-cluster Gateway! Yay!
Ingress traffic to your GKE fleet with the Multi-cluster Gateway controller, now GA @googlecloud https://t.co/uZkwBhqo0T
Gateway API v1.0 is live - Gateway, GatewayClass, and HTTPRoute are all GA! This has been an absolutely massive effort from so many people. I think this may be the most collaborative API in #Kubernetes history:

Very excited and proud to announce that our #GKE Multi-cluster Gateway controller is now GA for #GoogleCloud customers! You can now use the #Kubernetes Gateway API to define your ingress routing policy to your applications running in multiple GKE clusters. https://t.co/Grjy6lhunG
🎉 Gateway API v0.8.0 is live! This marks the first official support for Service Mesh in Kubernetes. You can now use the same set of APIs to configure @IstioMesh, @Linkerd, and Kuma, with more on the way.

Are you aware of the latest GKE networking features that enable your IPv6 workloads? Check out my blogpost for details on our latest Dataplane V2 observability launch, dual-stack Services support, and FQDN Network Policies - all IPv6-capable!

@bradgeesaman@nicholaseberts That’s correct, at least for the time being, this will get added very soon. Logging is available for regular NetworkPolicy, we are committed to supporting this for FQDNNetworkPolicy as well.
GKE's support of Gateway API has graduated to GA! This unlocks all kinds of new load balancing capabilities on GKE. This also means that Gateway CRDs can now be automatically managed and upgraded on GKE clusters.

John Howard and @keithmattix are introducing GAMMA at #KubeCon. This is a working group to determine how Gateway API can be used to represent mesh. Really great to see so much interest in this!
