@Phaezr@Supermutti5@ShatteredSFW@CursedGoo no idea if there's a term for that specifically, but it seems transmed has been co-opted for this meaning which doesnt make a lot of sense because most of these people have views that directly contradict transmedicalism
if i actually spoke my mind about the nature of transgenderism and transsexualism i stg ALL of you would lose your shit like i'm sorry my views are unpalatable to all
ACTUAL transmedicalism is when your doctor forces you to wear a dress publicly for a year without hormones or hair removal to be considered trans, no informed consent and you’re stuck with whatever dose your endo puts you on (they know nothing of proper dosage, they trained to treat diabetes), puts you under a spotlight for every single thought to check your transness isn’t just some sort of fetish (and they will find an excuse to label it a fetish), and won’t let you change your legal sex marker until you get cheap botched bottom surgery from some bum surgeon who genuinely doesn’t give a shit if they do a good job.
Transmedicalism is the weaponization of the medical system against trans people by transphobes within the medical system.
It's rather astonishingly epistemically violent that the privileged have used their greater access to the academy to reverse the meaning of "transmedicalism" such that its victims (those who want to medically transition) are its perpetrators (those who try to prevent that).
Dare I say that "you don't have to transition to be trans" is actively malicious in our current political environment?
I'm sure the trans women in Florida at risk of being forcibly detransitioned by the state are really comforted by the idea that they "don't have" to transition.
Trans women are women, not in a "gender is fake and you can do whatever you want" way but in a "women are a real sociolopolitical category that trans women are a part of" way.
