@qbhank19 BYU needs to beat down the door of the CFP and go deep into the playoffs to earn the respect. The corruption and SEC/B1G/ESPN/ND circle jerk happening is nothing short of disrespectful and insane. Let’s go take it boys!!
In a 12-game power-conference slate, BYU lost one game—to the No. 4 CFP team, on its home field. At one point in that game, BYU trailed 26-0. Not great, Bob. I get it.
But to the committee, nothing else BYU did this season seems to matter.
The disregard for data is despicable.
If you're going to penalize a 1-loss Power Conference team for a weak strength of schedule... BYU's SOS is better than Ole Miss and Notre Dame.
If you're going to penalize a team for not having the strongest power ratings (which incorporate prior year's history and recruiting rankings)... BYU's FPI is higher than Oklahoma's.
If you're going to penalize a team for a non-competitive / bad loss... Alabama lost by 14 to a team with a losing record and Miami lost to two unranked teams.
If you're going to use strength-of-record like you indicated you would, BYU's SOR is the second highest of teams 6-12.
BYU also (1) made its conference championship game and (2) if you sum up the wins of the teams it has beaten, it is THIRD in the country. It is hard to win games and BYU has beaten a lot of teams with a lot of wins.
This. Makes. No. Sense.
The @CFBPlayoff should be ashamed of itself. It has literally contorted itself into a pretzel to avoid putting BYU where it should be ranked (somewhere between 6th - 9th).
RT to get the info out there. They need to feel pressure.
If you feel so inclined, please consider donating to the State College food bank. Something good should come out of this fiasco https://t.co/hz4DKPbSYj
Sources: BYU coach Kalani Sitake has begun to inform people that he intends to stay at the school. BYU is in the process of putting together a lucrative contract to keep him. He's been one of main targets at Penn State, which he informed of his decision today.
A Moment That Should Be About BYU Football
I love many things about college football. NIL and transfer portal free agency have created parity in college football and has evened the playing field.
That’s why you see so many 2 and 3 loss teams in the top 25 this year. Many new teams are wending their way into relevancy in the modern era. Yet, there are so many things broken in the college football system that need to be fixed.
This week’s focus should be on game plans, matchups, and execution.
Instead, BYU is navigating uncertainty created by a calendar that forces coaches to negotiate career decisions during championship preparation.
The college football structure introduces chaos at the worst moments.
BYU, on the verge of a historic run, is the latest example of how the system distracts from the football being played.
If BYU football truly drives the ship, and if the university seeks to be fair in its dealings, then it must answer a direct question.
What is fair market value and resource offering for a coach who has lifted and sustained the program to modern day national relevance? What is the temporal value of an individual who is universally embraced as an ambassador for good and an example of discipleship for the LDS Church and Brigham Young University. Only BYU leadership and its donors can answer that question.
Kalani Sitake embodies everything that BYU is and wants to be. This decision will tell us who BYU wants to be and who they want leading the way of their football future… And the names of those decision makers will be attached to this particular decision in perpetuity.
Why do you love Kalani?
What does it mean to you to have @kalanifsitake as our head coach at BYU?
Right now is the moment to let Kalani feel the love, respect, and gratitude of Cougar Nation. He has given everything to this program. Let’s show him how much he means to all of us.
To make it fun, I’m giving away four 50 yard line seats and airfare to the Big 12 Championship game for two incredible responses.
Share your heart. Let’s lift Kalani together. 💙🏈
@jasonmcgowan@kalanifsitake Kalani IS BYU! He is the best representative of BYU values, of the church, and what a true disciple of Jesus Christ looks like. Love and learn. Humble and hungry. He is everything BYU football should be. Like you said, he is not replaceable. Pay Kalani, his staff and players!
I went back and looked at the last decade of where the lowest ranked P4/P5 1-loss team finished the regular season and here are the results:
2025: BYU (11 Projection)
2024: Indiana (8)
2023: Alabama (8)
2022: Ohio State (4)
2021: Notre Dame (5)
2020: NA (Covid)
2019: Baylor (7)
2018: Ohio State (6)
2017: Georgia (6)
2016: Washington (4)
AVERAGE ranking: 6
BYU is being absolutely robbed.
