I teach boxing over Zoom- This morning we talked about head movement off of hand checks, "when you feel pressure release!" again we looked at Joe Louis
Joe Louis was probably the best at hand checks, he needed the action slowed at a distance he could counter from, but many years later Sandy Saddler taught George Foreman hand checks. Don't see them used used much by modern fighters.
When Joe Louis finished a fight, win or loose, they threw a towel over his head and went straight back to the dressing room where he had one question for Blackburn, "What did I do wrong, what can I learn?" This is why he continued to improve through his long reign.
Hand checks and elbow control slide right into in fighting and clinching- stance and balance are crucial at this distance, a fighter has to learn to punch off of the scramble and not be unbalanced
hand checks and punching off of a check were the topics of study this morning. Hand checks smother a quick handed fighter's initiation and slow the action inside of the critical distance.
Iโm done revealing stuff about Trump. Appreciate all the follows but only joined in Dec. โ18 to tell about his Adderall addiction. Iโm tired of all the comments about how I should have done more. I donโt think folks realize what theyโre up against or how deeply criminal Trump is.

โRing sense is an art, a gift from God that flows out of a fighter like a great painting flows out of an artist, or a great book flows out of an author.โ Ray Arcel
