@pavyg To your point.. it is unreasonable to expect the chair umpire to be able to judge that in real time. Imagine it going the other way. Let’s say he called it and it was the match point for the other guy. Everyone would be yelling “you can’t end a match that way”.

@sheriffwoody12 @TedThompson74 @Coach__Strick Right. The touch doesn’t matter. It must be possessed (secured). There was actually no reason for the ref to even indicate it was tipped in the front court.

@AndrewFuery @Coach__Strick Not on a touch. The ball has to be possessed in bounds to establish team control. Tipping the ball isn’t considered control.

@sheriffwoody12 @Coach__Strick No - on an inbounds it is not considered team control (yes that’s weird). Since there isn’t team control until the ball is possessed in bounds, the ball can legally go into the back court (even if touched).
