What might the world be like if traffic modernism had never happened?
To visit Barcelona’s soaring Sagrada Família basilica writes @boys_nicholas in @Telegraph is to visit a parallel universe in which architectural modernism barely happened, symbolism and decoration remained acceptable and we kept creating places with joy, natural patterns and a whiff of the sacred…
@CleansedTweets ... and your local contact bringing them to you, "I know you have been longing for coffee all of these days, so I found these for you! Enjoy!"
@Porkchop_EXP@akoz33@isa2001m I do agree: continuous intentional exposure to the language through cartoons, books, weekend school, regular travel to country of origin are mandatory for the parents' languages.
@Porkchop_EXP@akoz33@isa2001m My 11 year old is effectively trilingual (🇫🇷+father 🇮🇹+mother🇨🇳). She is also very very proficient in🇬🇧, like being the best of her class and be able to watch tv programs in English.
You live in France, one of the most electrified and low-carbon countries on Earth.
The technology exists.
The comfort exists.
The power exists.
And yet people are told to sit in overheated apartments and “adapt.”
Not because we can’t solve the problem.
But because some decided discomfort is morally superior to abundance.
A strange ideology has emerged:
suffering as climate policy.
It’s almost like people think that sweating in the dark makes the planet cooler.
It baffles me that the country with some of the cleanest energy in the world has quasi medieval beliefs on AC
On top of the stupid "we aren't Yankees" mindset theres a quasi religious "we need to sweat to atone the world's climate sins" mentality
