@marvXRPmartin@bDoddleS The cap space has nothing to do with the statement. Before the offer sheet Zegras was looking at a sub 10m aav contract... he likely gets more now... thats the statement, didn't say anything about a lack of cap space from the flyers.
@bDoddleS If thats what he expected he should have agreed to the counter made by leos agent... why wait for the offer sheet... its not just 3 mil aav at the end of the day, cutter will likely get 3 mil iver what he would've, and the 2 mil to minty, so closer to 8 mil aav difference
@markwooster@billmeltzer Will be exciting to see how much zegras and Jamie get... jamie definitely going to get more than mintukov, zegras will be lucky if cutter gets signed before his arbitration hearing
@PhillyProud12 Attaching a pick would be for vatrano, he was out most of the year so that would need a sweetener... kreider wouldn't need one, 50 points is a decent contribution
@kckrebs37@FlyersAnt Because he just cost every gm in the league more for their rfas, and by extension ufas... players aren't going to drop their ask down to levels before this OS... they're all going to have their sights set higher
@NHLxForum You don't take the picks, you can't close pandoras box... the salaries are going to increase across the league over this, larkin can't carry a team, petterson isn't the answer to any question and you're not going to be in a position to draft high enough for a new 1c.
@theducks2007@DucksNPucks Definitely can win... kreider and killorn are gone after this season either way, this just hastens that. Right side of the defense will have to learn on the fly this year, there isn't a top rhd out there anyway. Contracts are going to rise over this, its not an anomaly or 1 off.
@JRDnotFallon@PandaloSergio I said those 2 players are the only ones that would replace him 1 for 1... larkin can't
replace him, wright can't, i think bedard would be a much better player on the ducks due to a better supporting cast, and celebrini is celebrini. There isn't a 1c to replace leo available.
@JRDnotFallon@PandaloSergio If you remove leo and replace him with 2 players, the second player is taking a spot from someone else, so now you have to replace that productivity. You can replace the points, zegras got the same as leo last season, but no one would call him a replacement for leo.
@Mr_Renni_M Everyone keeps focusing on Vatrano... kreider is the easiest to move, 50 points last season and cost certainty... not sure mantha and kane take less now.. killorn did well in the playoffs and recency bias plays a role.. always a couple teams 1 player away that'll take them
@Mr_Renni_M He just cost the owners their business model in addition to likely 15-30 million in overpay for the life of the contract... cutting him loose owing 3 mil or so is a drop in the bucket
@nurban08@ByJonBailey Offer sheet doesn't change the fact that if a gm thinks kreider will help, they will outbid other gms for him... and the ducks only have 2 young players to sign.. leo and cutter.. easy to fit moving last year vets that would've been gone after this season anyhow.
@JRDnotFallon@PandaloSergio It really isn't.... replacing 1 player with 2 or 3 is impractical, you are then having to try replacing 2-3 players productivity ibstead of just 1. Celebrini or Bedard are the only ones that would replace 1 for 1, and they're just as expensive now.
@Zmann1199181@dsilver88 Umm... when their contracts are up, they either resign, get signed by another team in ufa or retire, so yes, their contracts disappear, not by magic, by design. When kreider and killorn finish this year, if they aren't traded, they sign somewhere else and they're gone
@BeeTEE15 Thats any gm at this point.... any rfa can just hd out for offer sheets and they'll get a deal with the team that drafted them or the one they sign an offer sheet for
