Tesla wasn’t simply developing alternating current (AC) power. He was working to deliver free wireless electricity to the entire planet from his Wardenclyffe Tower eliminating the need for meters or monthly bills and providing abundant energy for all of humanity.

J.P. Morgan initially funded the project, but once he understood there would be no way to meter and charge customers for the electricity, he withdrew support. The project collapsed, the Wardenclyffe Tower was eventually torn down, and Tesla died in poverty.

AJ details how the FBI moved quickly after Tesla’s death, raiding his hotel room and seizing dozens of boxes of notes and research. Much of that material was turned over to military intelligence, and portions of it remain missing or classified to this day.
