@_imsigh@WKCosmo It wasn't even by Indian mathematicians, it was by a very distinguished British biologist (JBS Haldane) who moved to India, studied Indian traditions and wrote a short paper using a blend of Indian and Western terminology. https://t.co/yKlffnoidB
@_imsigh@WKCosmo Ochigame seems to be the only one who uses that phrase. I just looked at their thesis, it just means more than two distinct symbols on the tape.
@_imsigh@WKCosmo "nonbinary Turing machines" is the most obvious issue.
Nonbinary Turing machines appeared in the original 1936 paper.
"I focus on ... who have devised unorthodox models of computational rationality, such as ... and nonbinary Turing machines."

@JimDMiller Concerns about using AI (in its current form) to generate publications is like being concerned about calculator/computer use. You can use them to generate all kinds of rubbish. Or you can use them to tackle larger problems with less labor and fewer errors.
@JimDMiller How would the journal know how much time the student spent on the article? Even if they used AI to write the article, the ideas may (or may not) have been their own. They may have spent a lot of time developing those ideas and only used AI to polish their writing.
@CulturedChem@alexolegimas Stricter standards may be tolerated in Chemistry departments, due to the clear potential hazards of poorly trained chemists?
@CulturedChem@alexolegimas If you don't budge and they fail or receive a poor grade, you will have failed the student, no matter how much you feel you tried to help them. Students don't fail, the system fails them. That's the culture that students and their parents have experienced their entire lives.
@themediawitch@JoyceCarolOates For those reasons and others, there's probably a good chance that the current AI boom will end in a bust, perhaps even sooner rather than later.
@themediawitch@JoyceCarolOates Why not? This is what Grok said about your account btw:
Her posts frequently highlight appreciation for nature and gardening, critiques of AI and technology, along with occasional cultural and political observations.Peg Aloi, known as@themediawitch
@GWHayduke97 New Mad-rid MO, New Ay-thens IL, Kay-roh IL, Vie-anna IL. On the local news stations, the foriegn cities Madrid/Athens/Cairo/Vienna were pronounced that way too - back in the day, not sure about now.
@themediawitch@JoyceCarolOates Of course you shouldn't uncritically trust AI. Especially if you are using a free version, those are strictly for the lulz. Paid versions are significantly better, but still not perfect. AI is quick and easy, but double-check anything that's important to you.
@Plinz The current trajectory of Wikipedia is both beautiful and terrifying: when Wikipedia succeeds, a significant subset of society will govern their lives based on "what would does Wikipedia say?". A digital Bible.
@pbertrand_dev@signulll Sorry I finally got the joke, good one! I did ask Grok about the OP account and the post, to see its answer to the question. However my question was about the OP's intent, which Grok is hardly in a position to clarify.
