Author of mythopoeic fantasy 'The North Beyond'. Likes lore, legend, landscape, prehistory, philology, pies. Growing food & eating it. Very average trombonist!
'Best book I've read in 25 years.' 'A masterpiece.' 'Can't recommend it enough.' Just three great reactions out of many from readers of 'The North Beyond.'
@malcolmguite At last! Thought you'd given up, been pining away. And amazingly, I'd just re-read An Orkney Tapestry (the old pb, had it for years and dug it out to savour again). Keep them coming!
@alas_not_me Not dissimilar to the horcrux idea (see Harry Potter books) where handsome Tom Riddle gradually becomes repulsive Voldemort after secreting parts of his split soul in external objects & cannot survive their destruction?
@alas_not_me Oh yes! I can't bear being read to - never could even as a child. So intrusive! I'm definitely a 'reader by seeing'. It's so much quicker too!
