@Terence75852488 No one knows the future, but based on the first six exciting games of 2026 and 2025, the highest scoring season in two decades, there appears to be a lot of risk and downside to that kind of change now.
My CFL long story published in the Regina Leader Post and the Saskatoon Star Phoenix today examines the tension between a league pushing profound change to the game and rules and the fans resisting it. It suggests there was a third and better way. I hope you can read it.
@RedBlackGade Well said. Look at CFL/NFL per game scoring from 2022-2025. The CFL scores on average 6-7 points per game higher each year. Now we move the posts to back of the end zone like the NFL but 5 yards further . . . And supposedly scoring will rise. Call me immensely skeptical.
@BCLionsDen@GreyCupBound 2022-25 yearly scoring analysis of CFL and NFL scoring shows NFL scores fewer TDs and about 7 points less a game. Now we move to an American length field with posts at the back of the end zone (but 5 yards further) and scoring will rise? Call me immensely skeptical.
@1CFLAtt Of course the CFL needs change. But the random throw it at the dartboard backed by no research or consultation type of change . . . Much like US expansion in the 1990s, doomed to fail.
@BobIrvingCJOB As a long-time season ticket holder, they've completely devalued my investment. Many meaningless games doesn't make up for a couple more playoff games.
@PeterDyakowski Peter, as a longtime season ticket holder, the CFL just seriously devalued the quality and importance of regular season games. They have traded playoff revenue for the hope they will induce amnesia in season ticket holders subjected to quasi-exhibition games.
@TSNDaveNaylor Is that "value" offset by season ticket holders like me knowing they will see many more watered down and low stakes regular season games, highlighted by "Load Management". They are about to lose a bunch of us.
@friesensunmedia They cashed in 4 extra playoffs while hoping to induce amnesia in season ticket holders who will now experience any number of meaningless and low stakes regular season games. "Load management", here we come.
@BCLionsDen@BCLions The betting line was -3. The Riders won by 3. It would appear the odds makers saw it as a tight game, as well as the rational fans as opposed to random podcasters.
@BCLionsDen Healthy respect for your opponent would be start. While Rourke is the league MVP, it isn't going to be easy to play in a hostile stadium in a late afternoon possibly bad weather November game. Against a team likely to be rested and back closer to full strength.
