A Tokenomics Sustainability Perspective

two projects that stand out are @dango and @Hyperliquid . Both promote strong tokenomics models, but their sustainability outlooks differ significantly.

First, let’s look at the revenue model.

Hyperliquid is already generating around $330B in monthly trading volume and $1.2B in annual revenue, with roughly $2M in daily buybacks. This provides a proven cash flow and a solid foundation.

Dango, on the other hand, has an aggressive deflationary design where 100% of fees are burned. However, it’s still in the testnet phase, so the revenue model hasn’t been validated yet. In short: Hyperliquid is performance-based, while Dango is design-based.

In terms of supply and distribution, Dango clearly has the edge.

Dango allocates 50% directly to the community with no vesting, completely eliminating the risk of large-scale unlock dumping.

Hyperliquid, however, faces a massive challenge: starting November 2025, $11.9B worth of tokens will unlock over 24 months (~$500M per month). With only ~17% coverage from buybacks, significant supply pressure is unavoidable.

When it comes to deflationary mechanisms, the trade-offs are clear:

Dango offers MEV-resistant auctions, cross-margin efficiency, and 100% fee burn — highly aggressive in theory.

Hyperliquid already has proven mechanisms: TWAP buybacks in action, a $1.4B assistance fund, and a dominant 75% perp market share.

Dango is a high-risk, high-reward bet with strong theoretical sustainability but unproven revenue.
Hyperliquid is a proven model under real market conditions but carries a “time bomb” unlock risk.

If Hyperliquid can successfully navigate its unlock issue, it could easily position itself on an even higher tier.

Hyperliquid: 6.8/10

Dango: 7.4/10
